En Navidad y año nuevo, la Octava Brigada protege las vías del Eje Cafetero.

_En el marco de la campaña Viaje Seguro, su Ejército en la Vía, la Octava Brigada, unidad adscrita a la Quinta División del Ejército Nacional, teniendo en cuenta las necesidades en materia de seguridad vial, dispuso de doce puestos de control en los departamentos de Caldas, Quindío y Risaralda, para que propios y visitantes tengan una movilidad tranquila a lo largo y ancho de las vías que unen al Eje Cafetero con el resto del país.

Este sector de Colombia goza de diversos destinos turísticos, como los parques temáticos del departamento del Quindío y sus municipios que exaltan la cultura cafetera; así mismo, el parque nacional Los Nevados, en Villamaría, Caldas, y las aguas termales en el departamento de Risaralda atraen a cientos de turistas, gracias a las buenas condiciones de seguridad.

En esta bonita época, de unión y fraternidad familiar, los alumbrados navideños son un atractivo que embellece los parques, convoca a colombianos y extranjeros y fortalece la oferta turística y cultural de los departamentos de Quindío, Risaralda y Caldas.

Son 350 hombres los que están desplegados en los ejes viales en puestos de control en vías principales y terciarias, a fin de verificar los vehículos particulares y de servicio público que transitan por la región del café, y así colombianos y extranjeros puedan disfrutar de unas festividades tranquilas.

Por su parte, el coronel Edward Vicente Martínez, comandante de la Octava Brigada, señaló que es el Eje Cafetero un lugar estratégico que conecta con la capital del país y con el Pacífico colombiano: «En esta importante época del año, los más de 4000 soldados de la Unidad realizan tareas de estabilidad y de control territorial para que los viajeros tengan un recuerdo grato y seguro de la región».

De esta manera, el Ejército Nacional reafirma el compromiso de velar por el bienestar y la libre movilidad con el desarrollo de operaciones de control territorial y labores de prevención a través del Gaula Militar Eje Cafetero, que dispone de su canal de denuncia, la línea gratuita nacional 147 y la línea contra el terrorismo 107.

During Christmas and New Year’s, the Eighth Brigade protects the roads of the Coffee Region.

As part of the Safe Travel campaign, «Your Army on the Road,» the Eighth Brigade, a unit attached to the Fifth Division of the National Army, has established twelve checkpoints in the departments of Caldas, Quindío, and Risaralda, taking into account road safety needs. These checkpoints ensure safe travel for residents and visitors alike along the roads connecting the Coffee Region to the rest of the country.

This region of Colombia boasts diverse tourist destinations, such as the theme parks in the department of Quindío and its surrounding municipalities, which celebrate coffee culture. Similarly, Los Nevados National Natural Park in Villamaría, Caldas, and the hot springs in the department of Risaralda attract hundreds of tourists thanks to the excellent safety conditions.

In this beautiful season of family unity and fellowship, the Christmas lights are an attraction that beautifies the parks, draws Colombians and foreigners alike, and strengthens the tourism and cultural offerings of the departments of Quindío, Risaralda, and Caldas.

Three hundred and fifty men are deployed along the main roads at checkpoints on both primary and secondary routes to inspect private and public service vehicles traveling through the coffee region, ensuring that Colombians and foreigners alike can enjoy peaceful holidays.

For his part, Colonel Edward Vicente Martínez, commander of the Eighth Brigade, noted that the Coffee Region is a strategic location connecting the nation’s capital and the Colombian Pacific coast: «During this important time of year, the more than 4,000 soldiers of the Unit carry out stability and territorial control tasks so that travelers have a pleasant and safe experience in the region.»

In this way, the National Army reaffirms its commitment to ensuring the well-being and free movement of people through the development of territorial control operations and prevention efforts through the Military Gaula Eje Cafetero, which has its reporting channel, the national toll-free line 147 and the counter-terrorism line 107.
