Operación militar deja como resultado la muerte de alias Gerson o Henry, explosivista y operador de drones del Frente Carlos Armando Cacua Guerrero del GAO ELN en el Catatumbo.

Este sujeto fue el responsable de un ataque con drones a unidades militares en el municipio de El Carmen, donde resultaron 2 militares asesinados y 6 heridos, además de varias acciones terroristas contra la población civil.

En el marco de la operación Catatumbo, tropas de la Fuerza de Despliegue Rápido N. 3 del Ejército Nacional, en coordinación con la Policía Nacional y Fiscalía General de la Nación, lograron un contundente golpe contra el terrorismo al neutralizar a alias Gerson, integrante del Frente Carlos Armando Cacua Guerrero del grupo armado organizado (GAO) ELN, en una operación realizada en la vereda Aguas Claras, municipio de Ocaña, Norte de Santander. 

Este sujeto, con más de 14 años de trayectoria criminal, tenía injerencia delictiva en los municipios de Hacarí, San Calixto, Teorama y El Tarra. Se desempeñaba en la estructura como explosivista, francotirador y operador de drones en el frente de guerra nororiental del GAO ELN. 

Era responsable de ataques terroristas como el homicidio mediante modalidad de francotirador de los comandantes de Policía en San Calixto y en Teorama en octubre de noviembre de 2024. Este año fue quien mantuvo confrontación armada contra integrantes del Bloque Magdalena Medio en zona rural del municipio Ocaña, generando zozobra y dolor en la región.

Alias Gerson fue neutralizado gracias a la inteligencia militar y policial que permitió llegar a su área base donde también coordinaba confrontaciones contra estructuras del grupo armado organizado residual (GAO-r) Estructura 33. 

En la operación militar también fue incautado un fusil Ak47 y munición. La neutralización de este terrorista afecta de manera directa la capacidad armada del Frente de Guerra Nororiental del GAO ELN, y contrarresta los ataques criminales que violan los derechos humanos, reafirmando así el compromiso con la seguridad, el bienestar y protección de la vida de las comunidades de la región del Catatumbo. 

El Ejército Nacional continúa desarrollando operaciones ofensivas sostenidas en el departamento de Norte de Santander, con el firme compromiso de proteger a la población civil, velar por su seguridad y contribuir a la estabilización del territorio.

As part of Operation Catatumbo, troops from the National Army’s Rapid Deployment Force No. 3, in coordination with the National Police and the Attorney General’s Office, dealt a significant blow against terrorism by neutralizing alias Gerson, a member of the Carlos Armando Cacua Guerrero Front of the ELN armed group, in an operation carried out in the village of Aguas Claras, municipality of Ocaña, Norte de Santander.

This individual, with over 14 years of criminal activity, had criminal influence in the municipalities of Hacarí, San Calixto, Teorama, and El Tarra. He served within the ELN’s Northeastern War Front as an explosives expert, sniper, and drone operator.

He was responsible for terrorist attacks, including the sniper assassinations of police commanders in San Calixto and Teorama in October and November 2024. This year, he led an armed confrontation with members of the Magdalena Medio Bloc in the rural area of ​​the municipality of Ocaña, causing fear and suffering in the region.

Alias ​​Gerson was neutralized thanks to military and police intelligence that led to his base of operations, where he also coordinated confrontations with structures of the residual organized armed group (GAO-r) Structure 33.

An AK-47 rifle and ammunition were also seized during the military operation. The neutralization of this terrorist directly impacts the armed capacity of the Northeastern War Front of the ELN armed group and counters criminal attacks that violate human rights, thus reaffirming the commitment to the security, well-being, and protection of the lives of the communities in the Catatumbo region.

The National Army continues to conduct sustained offensive operations in the department of Norte de Santander, with the firm commitment to protect the civilian population, ensure their safety, and contribute to the stabilization of the territory.
