One of the most important times for fish farmers in the department of Risaralda is undoubtedly the main week, where they hope to exceed sales for the year 2023 and call for the consumption of fish and the conservation of a tradition that has been increasingly diminishing.
In Risaralda alone, more than 1,700 tons of tilapia, cachama and trout were recorded in 2022, where Santa Rosa de Cabal and Mistrató lead production in the department.
The Ministry of Agriculture, this year, expects that around 47,000 tons will be consumed in the celebration of Lent, 6% more than the previous year when 44,180 tons were recorded
