La capital risaraldense se ubicó en el puesto 559 entre las 1.000 principales ciudades del mundo, siendo la sexta a nivel nacional, así lo revelaron los datos del índice de ciudades globales de Oxford económics, En el cual se mide el desempeño en cinco categorías que se definen como los atributos de una ciudad global: Economía, Capital humano, Calidad de Vida, Medio ambiente y Gobernanza, la Perla del Otún fue la cuarta ciudad de Colombia con el mejor desempeño en Calidad de Vida.

The capital of Risaralda was ranked 559th among the 1,000 main cities in the world, being the sixth at the national level, as revealed by the data of the Oxford Economics Global Cities Index, in which performance is measured in five categories that are defined as the attributes of a global city: Economy, Human Capital, Quality of Life, Environment and Governance, the Pearl of Otún was the fourth city in Colombia with the best performance in Quality of Life.
