Operación militar binacional en Nariño frena avance terrorista y afecta las capacidades criminales del GAO Comuneros del Sur.

Después de dos horas de combate fueron neutralizados integrantes de esta estructura y se afectaron sus capacidades armadas, protegiendo a la población en esta zona de frontera.

En desarrollo del Plan de Campaña Ayacucho Plus y en coordinación binacional con el Ejército Ecuatoriano, tropas del Ejército Nacional sostuvieron intensos combates contra integrantes del grupo armado organizado Comuneros del Sur en la vereda Tiuquer, municipio de Cumbal, Nariño.

Tras más de dos meses de inteligencia militar, tropas del Grupo de Caballería Mecanizado N.º 3 de la Vigésima Tercera Brigada, en coordinación con el Batallón de Infantería Motorizado N.º 39 del Ejército Ecuatoriano, enfrentaron a integrantes del grupo armado organizado (GAO) que pretendían realizar acciones terroristas en esta zona fronteriza. 

La operación y los combates dieron como resultado la muerte en desarrollo de operaciones militares de un integrante del GAO y cuatro más resultaron heridos, a quienes se les prestaron los primeros auxilios por parte de los enfermeros de combate, acatando los postulados del Derecho Internacional Humanitario.

Así mismo, fueron incautados seis fusiles, un mortero, 1158 cartuchos de diferentes calibres, proveedores, 15 granadas hechizas, un dron y material de guerra empleado por esta estructura para intimidar y atacar a la población y a la Fuerza Pública. 

El Ejército Nacional ratifica su compromiso con la seguridad del pueblo nariñense, actuando con contundencia, responsabilidad y dentro del marco constitucional para garantizar la defensa de las comunidades.

Binational military operation in Nariño halts terrorist advance and disrupts the criminal capabilities of the Comuneros del Sur armed group.

As part of the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan and in binational coordination with the Ecuadorian Army, troops from the Colombian National Army engaged in intense combat against members of the Comuneros del Sur organized armed group in the village of Tiuquer, municipality of Cumbal, Nariño.

After more than two months of military intelligence, troops from the 3rd Mechanized Cavalry Group of the 23rd Brigade, in coordination with the 39th Motorized Infantry Battalion of the Ecuadorian Army, confronted members of an organized armed group (GAO) who were planning terrorist attacks in this border area.

The operation and the ensuing fighting resulted in the death of one GAO member and injuries to four others, who received first aid from combat medics in accordance with International Humanitarian Law.

Six rifles, a mortar, 1,158 rounds of ammunition of various calibers, magazines, 15 improvised grenades, a drone, and other war materiel used by this group to intimidate and attack the civilian population and law enforcement were seized.

The National Army reaffirms its commitment to the security of the people of Nariño, acting decisively, responsibly, and within the constitutional framework to guarantee the defense of the communities.
