Nuevo comandante de la Brigada de Infantería de Marina No. 5

Esta unidad acantonada en Puerto Carreño – Vichada, tiene área de responsabilidad fluvial y fronteriza en los departamentos de Arauca, Casanare, Guainía, Meta y Vichada.

Con la presencia de gremios y autoridades civiles y militares de Vichada, se realizó la ceremonia de relevo del Comando de la Brigada de Infantería de Marina No.5, Unidad con responsabilidad fluvial de 2.693 km que equivalen al 15% de los ríos navegables del país, de los cuales 1.710 km son fronterizos. El Coronel de Infantería de Marina José Manuel Arboleda Michaels entregó el mando al Coronel de Infantería de Marina Andrés Alejandro Varón Daza.

En la ceremonia militar presidida por el Comandante de la Fuerza Naval de la Orinoquía, Mayor General de Infantería de Marina Rafael Olaya Quintero, se exaltó la labor del Comandante saliente durante el año en que lideró a sus tripulantes en el cumplimiento de la misión constitucional.

El Comandante entrante, oriundo de Cali – Valle del Cauca, ingresó a la Armada de Colombia en el año de 1998. Actualmente cuenta con más de 26 años de servicio en la Institución Naval. Adicionalmente, cuenta con maestría en Gestión logística especializaciones en Defensa y Seguridad Nacional y Administración de Unidades Militares.

Durante su trayectoria militar ha ocupado los cargos de Comandante del Gaula Militar Tumaco, Comandante del Batallón Fluvial de I.M 24 en Buenaventura y Comandante del Batallón de I.M 12 en Cartagena, entre otros.

El Comandante saliente, Coronel de Infantería de Marina José Manuel Arboleda Michaels, con 29 años de servicio, ha sido designado como nuevo Jefe de Estado Mayor de la Fuerza Naval de la Orinoquía.

La Armada de Colombia extiende sus felicitaciones a los señores Coroneles en sus nuevos derroteros y los invita a continuar trabajando con compromiso, transparencia y excelencia en el cumplimiento de su misión en esta región del país.

New Commander of the 5th Marine Infantry Brigade

This unit, stationed in Puerto Carreño, Vichada, has riverine and border responsibility in the departments of Arauca, Casanare, Guainía, Meta, and Vichada.

With the presence of representatives from various sectors and civil and military authorities from Vichada, the change of command ceremony for the 5th Marine Infantry Brigade took place. This unit has riverine responsibility for 2,693 km, equivalent to 15% of the country’s navigable rivers, of which 1,710 km form borders. Marine Corps Colonel José Manuel Arboleda Michaels handed over command to Marine Corps Colonel Andrés Alejandro Varón Daza.

At the military ceremony presided over by the Commander of the Orinoquía Naval Force, Major General Rafael Olaya Quintero, the outgoing Commander was recognized for his service during the year he led his crew in fulfilling their constitutional mission.

The incoming Commander, a native of Cali, Valle del Cauca, joined the Colombian Navy in 1998. He currently has over 26 years of service in the Naval Institution. He also holds a master’s degree in Logistics Management with specializations in National Defense and Security and Military Unit Administration.

During his military career, he has held positions such as Commander of the Tumaco Military Anti-Extortion and Kidnapping Group (GAULA), Commander of the 24th Marine Infantry River Battalion in Buenaventura, and Commander of the 12th Marine Infantry Battalion in Cartagena, among others.

The outgoing Commander, Marine Corps Colonel José Manuel Arboleda Michaels, with 29 years of service, has been appointed as the new Chief of Staff of the Orinoquía Naval Force.

The Colombian Navy extends its congratulations to the Colonels on their new assignments and encourages them to continue working with commitment, transparency, and excellence in fulfilling their mission in this region of the country.
