Ejército Nacional fortalece la protección ambiental en la Orinoquia con la siembra de más de 20 mil árboles en el departamento de Arauca.

La protección del medio ambiente y la conservación de los recursos naturales se han convertido en una misión prioritaria para el Ejército Nacional. En cumplimiento de este compromiso, y bajo la estrategia ambiental Plan Amazonía, los soldados de la Décima Octava Brigada, adelantan un amplio despliegue de acciones ambientales en el departamento de Arauca.

En el marco de estas actividades, los soldados realizaron 265 jornadas ambientales, logrando la siembra de más de 20 mil árboles de especies nativas en diferentes zonas rurales del departamento de Arauca y en el corregimiento de Samoré, municipio de Toledo, Norte de Santander. Estas labores contribuyen directamente a la recuperación de áreas degradadas y a la mitigación de los efectos de la deforestación en la región de la Orinoquia.

El Ejército Nacional ha orientado parte de sus misiones operacionales al cuidado y la preservación del entorno natural, enfrentando de manera permanente los delitos ambientales generados por la delincuencia común y por los grupos armados organizados al margen de la ley.

Gracias al trabajo articulado con alcaldías municipales, juntas de acción comunal y Corporinoquia, la Décima Octava Brigada ha fortalecido los procesos de reforestación, sembrando especies como samán, guayacán amarillo, hobo, cañafístula, apamate y oití, entre otras, que aportan a la restauración ecológica y al equilibrio de los ecosistemas locales.

De manera complementaria, durante el desarrollo de la operación ambiental en 2025, el Ejército Nacional cuenta con nueve viveros activos en el departamento de Arauca, donde se adelanta la germinación y producción de plantas nativas propias de la Orinoquia, garantizando la sostenibilidad de las campañas de reforestación a mediano y largo plazo.

Así mismo, las tropas han establecido puestos de control en las principales vías del departamento, con el propósito de prevenir y mitigar el tráfico ilegal de fauna y flora, reforzando la protección del patrimonio ambiental de la región.

La Décima Octava Brigada continuará trabajando de manera decidida por la conservación de la biodiversidad, sembrando no solo árboles, sino también conciencia ambiental y esperanza para las futuras generaciones en la Orinoquia colombiana.

National Army Strengthens Environmental Protection in the Orinoquia Region by Planting More Than 20,000 Trees in the Department of Arauca
Environmental protection and the conservation of natural resources have become a priority mission for the National Army. In fulfillment of this commitment, and under the Amazon Plan environmental strategy, soldiers from the 18th Brigade are carrying out a wide range of environmental actions in the department of Arauca.

As part of these activities, soldiers conducted 265 environmental initiatives, planting more than 20,000 native tree species in various rural areas of the department of Arauca and in the village of Samoré, municipality of Toledo, Norte de Santander. These efforts directly contribute to the recovery of degraded areas and the mitigation of the effects of deforestation in the Orinoquia region.

The National Army has focused part of its operational missions on the care and preservation of the natural environment, constantly confronting environmental crimes committed by common criminals and illegal armed groups.

Thanks to coordinated work with municipal governments, community action boards, and Corporinoquia (the regional environmental authority), the Eighteenth Brigade has strengthened reforestation efforts, planting species such as saman, yellow guayacán, hobo, cañafístula, apamate, and oití, among others, which contribute to ecological restoration and the balance of local ecosystems.

Additionally, during the 2025 environmental operation, the National Army maintains nine active nurseries in the department of Arauca, where the germination and production of native plants from the Orinoquia region are underway, ensuring the sustainability of reforestation campaigns in the medium and long term.

Likewise, troops have established checkpoints on the department’s main roads to prevent and mitigate the illegal trafficking of flora and fauna, reinforcing the protection of the region’s environmental heritage.

The Eighteenth Brigade will continue working decisively for the conservation of biodiversity, planting not only trees, but also environmental awareness and hope for future generations in the Colombian Orinoquia region.
