Contundente golpe al ELN en el Catatumbo: Fuerzas Militares neutralizan ocho integrantes de este grupo armado organizado.

En cumplimiento del Plan de Campaña Estratégico Conjunto Ayacucho Plus – Apéndice Juan José Rondon, la operación terrestre y de ataque estratégico fue desarrollada por unidades con capacidades especiales, bajo los principios del Derecho Internacional Humanitario y el respeto de los Derechos Humanos.

05 February 2026 07:31 AMEn desarrollo de operaciones militares conjuntas, las Fuerzas Militares, en coordinación con la Policía Nacional, desplegaron una ofensiva contra estructuras del Grupo Armado Organizado ELN en la región del Catatumbo, con el propósito de afectar su capacidad armada y proteger a la población civil.

En zona rural de los municipios de Tibú y El Tarra, en el departamento de Norte de Santander, la operación terrestre y aérea permitió neutralizar a ocho integrantes del Frente de Guerra Nororiental del Grupo Armado Organizado ELN, siete de los cuales murieron en desarrollo de operaciones militares y uno fue capturado. Resultado obtenido mediante el empleo de capacidades diferenciales, que incluyeron el despliegue terrestre de las tropas del Ejército Nacional y la Policía Nacional, así como el apoyo aéreo de la Fuerza Aeroespacial Colombiana.

En el lugar también fue incautado abundante material de guerra, entre ellos 15 fusiles, cinco armas cortas, más de 2.000 cartuchos, 205 kilos de explosivos, la inhibición y destrucción de drones, y 202 granadas adaptadas para su empleo en aeronaves no tripuladas.

De acuerdo con información de inteligencia militar, se ha determinado que serían aproximadamente 15 afectaciones más a integrantes de esta estructura, que estaría vinculada a delitos como desplazamiento forzado, extorsión, secuestro, homicidios, economías ilícitas y acciones terroristas. De igual forma, se le atribuyen prácticas de reclutamiento forzado de niños, niñas y adolescentes.

Con este resultado se impacta de manera directa el sistema logístico y armado de este grupo ilegal, debilitando sus redes de apoyo al Narcotrafico y limitando de forma significativa su capacidad para ejecutar acciones violentas contra la población civil. Con la presencia de la Fuerza Pública en el sector, se contribuye a la recuperación progresiva de las capacidades institucionales del área, en apoyo a los esfuerzos del Estado orientados a generar condiciones que permitan el retorno voluntario, gradual y seguro de las comunidades indígenas y campesinas del sector, en coordinación con las autoridades civiles competentes.

Las Fuerzas Militares continuarán desarrollando operaciones contundentes con el propósito de  debilitar el accionar criminal de estos grupos ilegales, manteniendo así las  condiciones de seguridad, y el control territorial en nuestra Nación.

Decisive blow to the ELN in Catatumbo: Military Forces neutralize eight members of this organized armed group.

In compliance with the Joint Strategic Campaign Plan Ayacucho Plus – Juan José Rondón Appendix, the ground and strategic attack operation was carried out by units with special capabilities, under the principles of International Humanitarian Law and with respect for Human Rights.

During joint military operations, the Military Forces, in coordination with the National Police, launched an offensive against structures of the ELN Organized Armed Group in the Catatumbo region, with the purpose of disrupting its armed capacity and protecting the civilian population.

In the rural area of ​​the municipalities of Tibú and El Tarra, in the department of Norte de Santander, the ground and air operation resulted in the neutralization of eight members of the Northeastern War Front of the ELN Organized Armed Group, seven of whom died during military operations and one was captured. This result was achieved through the use of differentiated capabilities, including the ground deployment of troops from the National Army and the National Police, as well as air support from the Colombian Aerospace Force.

A large quantity of war materiel was also seized at the site, including 15 rifles, five handguns, more than 2,000 rounds of ammunition, 205 kilograms of explosives, drone jamming and destruction, and 202 grenades adapted for use on unmanned aerial vehicles.

According to military intelligence, approximately 15 more members of this group, which is allegedly linked to crimes such as forced displacement, extortion, kidnapping, homicide, illicit economies, and terrorist acts, have been affected. They are also accused of the forced recruitment of children and adolescents.

This result directly impacts the logistical and armed systems of this illegal group, weakening its drug trafficking support networks and significantly limiting its capacity to carry out violent actions against the civilian population. The presence of the Public Force in the area contributes to the progressive recovery of institutional capacities in the region, supporting the State’s efforts to create conditions that allow for the voluntary, gradual, and safe return of the indigenous and peasant communities in the area, in coordination with the competent civil authorities.

The Armed Forces will continue to conduct decisive operations to weaken the criminal activities of these illegal groups, thus maintaining security and territorial control in our nation.
