Leones Internacional: un siglo salvando vidas y sirviendo al mundo.

Durante más de 100 años, los miembros de los Clubes de Leones han dedicado su labor a servir comunidades en todo el mundo, brindando ayuda humanitaria, salvando vidas y combatiendo la pobreza. Desde Pereira, Colombia, hasta los rincones más lejanos del planeta, su compromiso con la salud visual, la alimentación y el bienestar social continúa siendo un faro de esperanza para los más vulnerables.

El impacto de los Leones ha crecido año tras año gracias a su visión global de servicio. Miles de voluntarios trabajan incansablemente para mejorar la calidad de vida de quienes más lo necesitan, ofreciendo programas de salud, jornadas de nutrición, atención médica y apoyo comunitario. Su misión no solo transforma vidas individuales, sino que también fortalece comunidades enteras bajo un espíritu de solidaridad y empatía.

Hoy, los desafíos globales son más grandes que nunca. Enfermedades como la diabetes afectan a uno de cada once adultos, generando millones de muertes al año y complicaciones graves que amenazan la salud pública mundial. Frente a este panorama, los Leones impulsan programas educativos, campañas de prevención y exámenes médicos para enfrentar esta crisis sanitaria con acciones concretas y sostenibles.

Otro de los retos más dolorosos es el cáncer infantil, la segunda causa de mortalidad entre niños en el mundo. Cada dos minutos un menor recibe este diagnóstico, y en muchos países la falta de acceso a tratamientos reduce las posibilidades de supervivencia a menos del 10%. Los Leones Internacional refuerzan su compromiso mediante el apoyo a hospitales, la donación de equipos médicos y el acompañamiento a familias que enfrentan esta dura realidad.

Después de un siglo de servicio ininterrumpido, el movimiento leonístico sigue evolucionando, adaptándose a las necesidades de un mundo cambiante y reafirmando su lema: “Nosotros Servimos”. En cada acción solidaria, los Leones demuestran que servir es una forma de vida que transforma el presente y construye un futuro más humano para todos.

Lions International: A century of saving lives and serving the world

For over 100 years, members of the Lions Clubs have dedicated their efforts to serving communities worldwide, providing humanitarian aid, saving lives, and fighting poverty. From Pereira, Colombia, to the farthest corners of the planet, their commitment to visual health, nutrition, and social well-being continues to shine as a beacon of hope for the most vulnerable.

The impact of the Lions has grown year after year thanks to their global vision of service. Thousands of volunteers work tirelessly to improve the quality of life of those in need, offering health programs, nutrition campaigns, medical assistance, and community support. Their mission not only changes individual lives but also strengthens entire communities under a spirit of solidarity and empathy.

Today, global challenges are greater than ever. Diseases such as diabetes affect one in every eleven adults, causing millions of deaths each year and serious complications that threaten public health. In response, the Lions promote educational initiatives, prevention campaigns, and medical screenings to tackle this global issue through concrete and sustainable action.

Another heartbreaking challenge is childhood cancer—the second leading cause of death among children worldwide. Every two minutes, a child is diagnosed with cancer, and in many developing countries, lack of access to treatment reduces survival rates to below 10%. Lions International reinforces its commitment by supporting hospitals, donating medical equipment, and accompanying families facing this harsh reality.

After a century of continuous service, the Lions movement continues to evolve, adapting to the needs of a changing world and reaffirming its motto: “We Serve.” In every act of solidarity, the Lions prove that serving is a way of life that transforms the present and builds a more humane future for all.
