Dos menores de edad reclutados por el GAO ELN fueron recuperados por tropas del Ejército Nacional.

Los maltratos, presiones e intimidaciones que recibían dentro del grupo armado y el anhelo de una vida en paz llevaron a los jóvenes a presentarse ante las tropas, donde encontraron protección y esperanza.

En desarrollo de operaciones militares en Barrancabermeja, Santander, el Ejército Nacional recuperó a dos menores de 16 y 17 años de edad que habían sido reclutados hace aproximadamente tres años por el Frente Camilo Torres, del grupo armado organizado ELN.

Los adolescentes, quienes fueron llevados al departamento de Norte de Santander, habían sido víctimas de maltrato, presiones e intimidaciones que los obligaron a soportar condiciones contrarias a su dignidad y libertad y, cansados de estas agresiones, decidieron buscar refugio en las tropas de la Quinta Brigada, donde encontraron la oportunidad para reiniciar sus vidas.

Ante esta situación, soldados del Batallón de Artillería de Campaña N.° 6 les brindaron asistencia inmediata y las garantías para su traslado desde el Catatumbo hasta el distrito petrolero, garantizando su protección, bienestar y, posteriormente, ser entregados al Instituto Colombiano de Bienestar Familiar (ICBF), entidad encargada de restablecer sus derechos.

El Ejército Nacional rechaza de manera categórica el reclutamiento forzado de menores de edad, práctica que vulnera los derechos humanos, el derecho internacional humanitario y priva a los niños y adolescentes de su legítimo derecho a crecer en libertad y en entornos seguros para su desarrollo.

Este hecho es el resultado de la confianza que siente la población civil hacia la institución, así como del avance de las campañas permanentes contra el reclutamiento forzado y de desmovilización que se desarrollan en el nororiente del país.

De esta forma, invitamos a la ciudadanía a seguir denunciando cualquier situación que atente contra la tranquilidad de las familias colombianas, a través de las líneas 147 del Gaula Militar y 107 contra el terrorismo, porque la seguridad es un trabajo que se construye entre todos.

During military operations in Barrancabermeja, Santander, the National Army recovered two minors, ages 16 and 17, who had been recruited approximately three years earlier by the Camilo Torres Front of the ELN (Armed Nationalist Front).

The adolescents, who were taken to the department of Norte de Santander, had been victims of abuse, pressure, and intimidation that forced them to endure conditions contrary to their dignity and freedom. Tired of these attacks, they decided to seek refuge with the troops of the Fifth Brigade, where they found the opportunity to restart their lives.

Faced with this situation, soldiers from the 6th Field Artillery Battalion provided them with immediate assistance and guarantees for their transfer from Catatumbo to the oil district, ensuring their protection and well-being. They were subsequently handed over to the Colombian Family Welfare Institute (ICBF), the entity responsible for restoring their rights.

The National Army categorically rejects the forced recruitment of minors, a practice that violates human rights and international humanitarian law and deprives children and adolescents of their legitimate right to grow up in freedom and in safe environments.

This is the result of the trust the civilian population has in the institution, as well as the progress of the ongoing campaigns against forced recruitment and demobilization that are being carried out in the northeast of the country.

We therefore encourage citizens to continue reporting any situation that threatens the peace of Colombian families through the Military Gaula hotlines 147 and the anti-terrorism hotline 107, because security is a collective effort.
