After 15 days of indefinite strike at the Universidad Libre Seccional Pereira, students, teachers and parents mobilized through the streets of Pereira in search of support from local and regional authorities.
Students, teachers and parents joined in a march to demand that the Free University comply with the promised high quality standards, they asked to guarantee the job stability of teachers and improve the educational quality offered by the institution.
They also reject poor management within the university, as well as the lack of response from the authorities.
The participants agree that they seek to highlight the importance of resolving the academic and labor demands that have generated the paralysis of activities at the institution since April 3.
In an interview with the rector Adriama Vellejo de la Pava, she expressed her willingness to dialogue with all levels of the university and reaffirmed her commitment to address any concern or request that arises.
She highlighted that since April 3, when the strike began, solutions have been sought through dialogue, but obstacles have been faced, including the refusal of the university’s national president to respond to the rector’s requests.
