EN LA CIUDAD.

El Centro de Bienestar de Anciano San José está cumpliendo este mes 100 años de trayectoria, siempre bajo el lema “Atención Integral Centrada en la persona, por el bienestar y la dignidad del adulto mayor”, un lugar en el que vela por el servicio y la dignidad.

Este sitio fue fundado en 1.924 Por Carlos Echeverry Uribe,  un ilustre habitante de la ciudad que nació en Abejorral Antioquia, quien combatió en las filas liberales durante la Guerra de los mil días y a su llegada a Pereira demostró de  manera permanente el civismo que lo diferenciaba de muchas otras personas habitantes de la ciudad.

Entre otras obras fundadas por el, se encuentra el hospital San Jorge.

El hogar inicialmente surgió como respuesta a la necesidad de cuidado y atención para adultos mayores que no tenían familiares que  pudieran ocuparse de ellos, o que carecían de los recursos económicos  para subsistir por sí mismos.

El concejo de Pereira , ante esta realidad, facilitó la creación  de este lugar, que inicialmente se denominó Asilo de Mendigos de Pereira

Este nombre reflejaba  las difíciles circunstancias  que enfrentaba la población durante la guerra que golpeó a Colombia.

The San José Elderly Wellbeing Center is celebrating 100 years of experience this month, always under the motto “Comprehensive Care Centered on the person, for the well-being and dignity of the elderly”, a place that ensures service and the dignity.

This site was founded in 1924 by Carlos Echeverry Uribe, an illustrious inhabitant of the city who was born in Abejorral Antioquia, who fought in the liberal ranks during the War of a Thousand Days and upon his arrival in Pereira permanently demonstrated the civility that distinguished him. of many other people living in the city.

Among other works founded by him, is the San Jorge hospital.

The home initially emerged as a response to the need for care and attention for older adults who did not have family members who could take care of them, or who lacked the economic resources to survive on their own.

The council of Pereira, faced with this reality, facilitated the creation of this place, which was initially called the Pereira Beggars Asylum.

This name reflected the difficult circumstances that the population faced during the war that hit Colombia.
