El pasado martes, 14 de mayo, las Fuerzas Armadas Colombianas liberaron a 18 soldados secuestrados por el ELN en el departamento del Chocó. El rescate se produjo tras una operación militar en la zona rural del municipio de El Carmen, en medio de una ofensiva contra la guerrilla. La situación se desarrolló durante una operación de seguridad en la región, buscando debilitar la presencia del grupo armado y proteger a la población civil.
