la FIFA decidió ampliar el número de equipos participantes en el mundial a 48 selecciones, por lo que en las eliminatorias Sudamericanas, de las 10 participantes, las seis primeras van rumbo a la copa del mundo y la séptima jugará un repechaje.

este Formoso formato es por ahora la esperanza de Colombia.

con un punto de seis posibles la selección Colombia cerró una nueva jornada de eliminatorias donde en la segunda vuelta de la competencia, la tricolor ha mostrado un nivel pobre futbolísticamente, después de gran parte de la primera vuelta, haber sido el escolta de argentina en el segundo lugar.

por la fecha 17, nuevamente un duelo directo, esta vez visitando a Paraguay y cierran como locales ante argentina, donde esperan no llegar dependiendo de un resultado.

FIFA decided to expand the number of teams participating in the World Cup to 48, so in the South American qualifiers, of the 10 participants, the top six will advance to the World Cup, and the seventh will play a playoff.

This formidable format is, for now, Colombia’s hope.

With one point out of a possible six, the Colombian national team closed out another round of qualifying matches. In the second round of the competition, the tricolor has displayed a poor level of football, after having been second only to Argentina in second place for much of the first round.

As of today, they occupy the last spot with a direct spot to the World Cup and are only saved by the qualifying format following FIFA’s modification to include 48 countries in the 2026 World Cup. Therefore, if the previous format were still in place, they would be in the playoff zone, which, by the way, they aren’t far from, and already have Venezuela five points away from reaching it.

The Ecuadorians are in a campaign that has them ever closer to the World Cup.

In their next match, they host Brazil in what will be a direct duel. Then they visit Peru, who could arrive already eliminated.

For Matchday 17, there’s another direct duel, this time visiting Paraguay. They close out at home against Argentina, where they hope to avoid reaching the playoffs depending on a result.
