Hoy, sábado 13 de diciembre 2025, celebramos el natalicio de Miguel Aceves Mejía (nació en Chihuahua, 13 de diciembre de 1915-Ciudad de México; y, murió el 6 de noviembre de 2006) cantante y actor mexicano. Hijo de Miguel Aceves y Herminia Mejía. Desde niño trabajó como limpiabotas y vendiendo periódicos, ya que su padre falleció cuando él tenía cuatro años de edad.
La popularidad que alcanzó con sus discos y sus películas lo llevó al extranjero y en Argentina, donde logró gran aceptación, filmó Qué me toquen las golondrinas (1956), Amor se dice cantando (1957) y ¡Viva quien sabe querer! (1959). En España compartió créditos con Lola Flores en ¡Échame a mí la culpa! (1958) y en «Limosna de amores» (1955). También, incursionó en otros géneros como el tango en el que en 1968 grabó con Lucio Milena un disco llamado Tangos en bolero a la manera de Miguel Aceves Mejía.
El 6 de noviembre de 2006, Mejía falleció en Ciudad de México a los 90 años de edad, a causa de una neumonía. Dos días después, el 8 de noviembre, fue enterrado en el Panteón Jardín, ubicado en la misma ciudad.

En conmemoración del natalicio del gran cantante y actor mexicano, Miguel Aceves Mejía (1915-2006), hago entrega de mi regalo navideño número 13. -Este regalo es la melodía de una vida dedicada al arte, una vida que, desde sus humildes comienzos en Chihuahua, se elevó hasta convertirse en la «Voz de México» y en un ícono que conquistó escenarios en Argentina y España, incluso incursionando en el tango.
Mi presente es la entrega de un legado, encarnado en uno de sus versos más sentidos: «Por un amor me desvelo y vivo apasionado, tengo un amor que en mi vida dejó para siempre amargo dolor.» (De su tema «Por un Amor»).
Al recibir este regalo, honramos el espíritu apasionado de Miguel Aceves Mejía: la perseverancia del niño que limpiaba botas, la versatilidad del artista que cantó rancheras y boleros, y la profundidad de la voz que supo expresar el dolor y la pasión del alma mexicana.

Today, Saturday, December 13, 2025, we celebrate the birthday of Miguel Aceves Mejía (born in Chihuahua, December 13, 1915 – Mexico City; died November 6, 2006), Mexican singer and actor. Son of Miguel Aceves and Herminia Mejía. From childhood, he worked as a shoeshine boy and selling newspapers, as his father passed away when he was four years old.

The popularity he achieved with his records and films took him abroad, and in Argentina, where he was very well received, he filmed Qué me toquen las golondrinas (1956), Amor se dice cantando (1957), and ¡Viva quien sabe querer! (1959). In Spain, he shared the screen with Lola Flores in ¡Échame a mí la culpa! (1958) and in «Limosna de amores» (1955). He also ventured into other genres such as tango, recording an album with Lucio Milena in 1968 called Tangos en bolero a la manera de Miguel Aceves Mejía.

On November 6, 2006, Mejía died in Mexico City at the age of 90 from pneumonia. Two days later, on November 8, he was buried in the Panteón Jardín cemetery, also located in Mexico City.

My favorite interpretation of Miguel Aceves Mejía’s song, «Por un Amor» (For a Love): «For a love / I stay awake and live passionately / I have a love / that I leave in my life forever / bitter pain. / Woe is me / this life is better off ending / it’s not for me / woe is me, woe is me / how my heart suffers / that beats only for you. / For a love / I have cried drops of blood / from my heart it has left me / with a wounded soul / without compassion.»
