El 22 de abril se celebra el Día Internacional de la Madre Tierra, una efeméride oficial proclamada por las Naciones Unidas en resolución 63/278 del 22 de abril de 2009.

El Día Internacional de la Madre Tierra se celebra oficialmente desde el año 2009 con el objetivo de concienciar a la humanidad sobre los problemas generados por la superpoblación, la contaminación, la conservación de la biodiversidad y otras preocupaciones ambientales.

Somos malos hijos: Tratamos mal a nuestra Madre Tierra. La maltratamos, todos los días. Pero, hoy 22 de abril, en su DÍA, debemos pedirle perdón y presentarle nuestros agradecimientos, con esta Oración:  Pachamama, Madre Tierra:  te honramos y te agradecemos; por los frutos que nos das, por el agua que nos refresca, por el aire que nos permite vivir. / Por los animales que pueblan tus tierras y por la belleza de tu creación. / Por las montañas, los ríos, los bosques y los océanos. / Te pedimos perdón por nuestros errores, por contaminar tus aguas y tus suelos.  / Por no respetar la armonía de la naturaleza y por no cuidar tus hijos. / Te pedimos que nos guíes hacia la sabiduría, la comprensión y el respeto por la naturaleza. / Que nos enseñes a vivir en equilibrio con el mundo que nos rodea y a cuidar de él como un todo. / Que nos ayudes a construir un futuro donde la naturaleza sea valorada y protegida. / Donde el amor y la unidad prevalezcan sobre el egoísmo y la destrucción. / Que la Pachamama nos bendiga a todos, a los que viven y a los que vendrán. / Que la paz y la armonía reinen en la Tierra. We are bad children: We treat our Mother Earth badly. We mistreat her every day. But today, April 22nd, on her DAY, we must ask for her forgiveness and offer our thanks with this Prayer: Pachamama, Mother Earth: we honor and thank you for the fruits you give us, for the water that refreshes us, for the air that allows us to live. / For the animals that inhabit your lands and for the beauty of your creation. / For the mountains, the rivers, the forests, and the oceans. / We ask your forgiveness for our mistakes, for polluting your waters and your soils. / For not respecting the harmony of nature and for not caring for your children. / We ask you to guide us toward wisdom, understanding, and respect for nature. / May you teach us to live in balance with the world around us and to care for it as a whole. / May you help us build a future where nature is valued and protected. / Where love and unity prevail over selfishness and destruction. / May Pachamama bless us all, those who live and those who will come. / May peace and harmony reign on Earth.
