¡Golpe al terror! Tropas del Ejército Nacional incautaron 3,8 toneladas de material explosivo en Nariño

Con este resultado operacional se evitó la fabricación de al menos 38.000 minas antipersonal en el suroccidente del país.

En desarrollo de operaciones militares orientadas a contrarrestar el accionar criminal de los grupos armados organizados en el departamento de Nariño, tropas del Grupo de Caballería Mecanizado N.° 3, unidad orgánica de la Vigésima Tercera Brigada, adscrita a la Tercera División del Ejército Nacional, ubicaron un depósito ilegal con abundante material explosivo en zona urbana del municipio de Ipiales.

La operación fue posible gracias a información obtenida mediante labores de inteligencia militar que permitieron ubicar un inmueble que estaría siendo utilizado para almacenar insumos destinados a la fabricación de artefactos explosivos improvisados, los cuales serían empleados para atentar contra la población civil y las unidades de la Fuerza Pública.

En el lugar fueron hallados aproximadamente 31.000 metros de mecha de seguridad, 800 kilogramos de mezcla explosiva de uso industrial, 19.000 detonadores comunes, 3500 metros de cordón detonante y más de 2500 kilogramos de explosivos tipo emulsión. Este material, que supera las tres toneladas, pertenecería al grupo armado organizado residual Comandos de Frontera que delinque en la región.

De acuerdo con análisis técnicos, los elementos incautados tendrían la capacidad de afectar a más de tres millones de personas. Cabe resaltar que el uso indiscriminado de este tipo de artefactos explosivos constituye una grave violación a los derechos humanos y una infracción al derecho internacional humanitario, por lo cual ya se adelantan las respectivas denuncias ante las autoridades competentes.

El Grupo de Manejo de Artefactos Explosivos del Ejército Nacional (MARTE) hizo presencia en el lugar para llevar a cabo la destrucción técnica del material, aplicando los procedimientos establecidos para este tipo de operaciones.

El Ejército Nacional mantiene su presencia en el departamento de Nariño, con el objetivo de debilitar las capacidades logísticas de los grupos armados ilegales y proteger la vida y la integridad de la población civil.

In the course of military operations aimed at countering the criminal activities of organized armed groups in the department of Nariño, troops from the 3rd Mechanized Cavalry Group, an organic unit of the Twenty-Third Brigade, attached to the Third Division of the National Army, located an illegal warehouse containing a large amount of explosive material in an urban area of ​​the municipality of Ipiales.

The operation was made possible thanks to information obtained through military intelligence, which led to the location of a building that was being used to store supplies for the manufacture of improvised explosive devices, which would be used to attack the civilian population and law enforcement units.

Approximately 31,000 meters of safety fuse, 800 kilograms of industrial-grade explosive mixture, 19,000 common detonators, 3,500 meters of detonating cord, and more than 2,500 kilograms of emulsion-type explosives were found at the site. This material, weighing more than three tons, is believed to belong to the remnant organized armed group Border Commandos, which operates in the region.

According to technical analysis, the seized items could affect more than three million people. It should be noted that the indiscriminate use of this type of explosive device constitutes a serious violation of human rights and a breach of international humanitarian law, and therefore the respective complaints are already being filed with the competent authorities.

The National Army’s Explosive Device Management Group (MARTE) was present at the site to carry out the technical destruction of the material, applying the established procedures for this type of operation.

The National Army maintains its presence in the department of Nariño, with the aim of weakening the logistical capabilities of illegal armed groups and protecting the lives and safety of the civilian population.
