  El 8 de noviembre de 2007, la Asamblea General de las Naciones Unidas estableció que cada 15 de septiembre se celebraría el Día Internacional de la Democracia, siendo festejado por primera vez al año siguiente.
  La democracia es un valor universal, pero al mismo tiempo no existe un modelo único de democracia, sino un sin número de interpretaciones que comparten principios y valores comunes. Sin embargo, esta amplitud conceptual es la que hace necesario fomentar prácticas que consoliden la cultura democrática y conciencien a los ciudadanos respecto de sus deberes y derechos.

  On November 8, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly established that every September 15th would be celebrated as the International Day of Democracy, and it was celebrated for the first time the following year.
  Democracy is a universal value, but at the same time, there is no single model of democracy, but rather countless interpretations that share common principles and values. However, this conceptual breadth makes it necessary to promote practices that consolidate democratic culture and raise citizens’ awareness of their duties and rights.
