The reading average that the city had, 1 book per year, is very low compared to the national average and especially with the average of other countries.
It must be kept in mind that a study by the Colombian Book Chamber indicated that the average reading in Colombia in 2020 was 2.7 books read per person per year.
According to the aforementioned survey, in Pereira the age range that had the highest reading average was 18 to 25 years of age, which had an average of 2.11 books per year, while the youngest age range was 46 to 25 years old. 55 years old with 0.90 books a year.
The report showed that 57.17% of those surveyed said they had not read any books in the last year, 14.91% one book, 14.58% two books, 6.13% three books, 1, 66% four books, 1.82% five books and finally 3.73% more than five books.
Different strategies have been implemented in the city to increase readability.
