Los marinos de Colombia continúan navegando al corazón de los colombianos.

Tras cumplirse 202 años de la Batalla Naval del Lago de Maracaibo se conmemoró 202 años de la Batalla Naval del Lago de Maracaibo, hazaña que selló la independencia de Colombia e Hispanoamérica.

 La Armada Bicentenaria conmemoró la gesta heroica del Gran Almirante José Padilla López, y que 202 años después, viste sus colores para celebrar su día, siendo ejemplo de templanza, carácter y determinación, valores que rigen el actuar de los Marinos de Colombia, quienes han trabajado en defensa de los intereses marítimos y fluviales de la nación, poniendo a disposición todas sus capacidades operacionales, logísticas y de talento humano, para seguir navegando al corazón de los colombianos.

Cada 24 de julio es un día de orgullo institucional, que recuerda a los tripulantes de la Armada de Colombia, el legado que llevan en sus manos e invita a seguir aportando a la búsqueda de paz y libertad. Como aquel grito que impregnó la historia patria: “¡Viva la República, viva la libertad!

 Una fiesta que se vive en cada punto cardinal

En las diferentes unidades a lo largo y ancho del territorio nacional donde la Armada hace presencia, se llevaron a cabo ofrendas florales frente a los monumentos erigidos al Gran Almirante José Padilla López, como símbolo de remembranza y agradecimiento por la gran gesta que reúne a los más de 33 mil hombres y mujeres que sirven a la patria desde mar, tierra, aire y río. Asimismo, se celebraron solemnes Eucaristías en agradecimiento al Altísimo por la protección a los Marinos, quienes trabajan por la protección de los colombianos y el cumplimiento de la misión constitucional. 

Los actos conmemorativos finalizaron con majestuosas ceremonias, en las que se impusieron a tripulantes destacados la medalla militar Orden al Mérito Naval “Almirante Padilla”, por su abnegada labor y servicio a la institución y al país, contribuyendo al cumplimiento de la misión y al bienestar de los colombianos, como dignos herederos del legado del este prócer naval. 

La celebración central se vivió en el corazón industrial de Cartagena, en la planta de Mamonal, donde aparte de la conmemoración de los 202 años de la Batalla Naval del Lago Maracaibo y el Día de la Armada, se suma la celebración del aniversario No. 25 de la Corporación de Ciencia y Tecnología para el Desarrollo de la Industria Naval -COTECMAR-.

Durante este acto, se realizó la presentación oficial de los buques construidos por COTECMAR: la Patrullera Oceánica ARC “24 de Julio”, el Buque Hospital CAPS Costero Fluvial “Benkos Biohó”, el Bote Insular DIMAR ARC “Isla San Andrés” y los Botes de Operaciones Fluviales de Bajo Calado de Infantería de Marina. Estas unidades representan la materialización de 25 años de innovación nacional al servicio de la soberanía, la salud y el desarrollo fluvial y marítimo del país.

 Una Institución con resultados contundentes

La Armada de Colombia, gracias al despliegue operacional permanente por mar, río, aire y tierra, a través de las capacidades diferenciales de Superficie, Guardacostas, Aviación Naval, Submarinos, Infantería de Marina e Inteligencia Naval, ha obtenido destacados resultados frente a delitos del crimen transnacional; logrando este año, la incautación de más de 348 toneladas de estupefacientes, avaluados en más de 14 billones de dólares y la captura de más de 300 personas por delitos relacionados con el narcotráfico.

 En la protección humana en el mar, la Armada, a través de sus unidades, ha apoyado la evacuación de 90 personas y el rescate de 246 en distintas operaciones. De igual forma, como garantes de la protección y conservación de la biodiversidad, así como de los recursos naturales, marinos y costeros, se han incautado más de 18 toneladas de pesca ilegal y destruido 110 maquinarias usadas para la extracción ilícita de yacimientos mineros, además del rescate de 6.035 especies de fauna protegida, una cifra que supera al año anterior. 

 La Institución Naval durante el año 2025, a través de sus Fuerzas Navales del Caribe, Pacífico, Amazonía y Orinoquía, ha llevado a cabo 25 Jornadas de Apoyo al Desarrollo en distintas poblaciones costeras y ribereñas vulnerables. Asimismo, ha apoyado la realización de siete mercados campesinos y ocho ruedas de emprendimiento con empresarios locales en diferentes regiones del país. Estas acciones, sumadas a las campañas “Navegando al Corazón”, han beneficiado a más de 228.349 colombianos.

Es así como los más de 33 mil hombres y mujeres, Marinos de Colombia, seguirán contribuyendo al bienestar y desarrollo integral de las comunidades en cada región del país, a través de acciones contundentes, que reflejan los valores y el significado de portar con orgullo el uniforme de la institución que protege el azul de la bandera, desde mares, ríos, costas y zonas insulares del territorio nacional para seguir navegando al corazón de los colombianos.

Following the 202nd anniversary of the Naval Battle of Lake Maracaibo, the feat that sealed the independence of Colombia and Latin America was commemorated.

The Bicentennial Navy commemorated the heroic deed of Grand Admiral José Padilla López, and 202 years later, it dons its colors to celebrate his day, serving as an example of temperance, character, and determination—values that guide the actions of Colombian sailors, who have worked to defend the nation’s maritime and riverine interests, putting all their operational, logistical, and human talent capabilities at the disposal of the nation’s sailors.

Every July 24th is a day of institutional pride, which remembers the crews of the Colombian Navy and the legacy they carry in their hands, inviting them to continue contributing to the search for peace and freedom. Like that cry that permeated national history: «Long live the Republic, long live freedom!»

A celebration experienced in every corner of the country

In the various units throughout the country where the Navy is present, floral offerings were made in front of the monuments erected to Grand Admiral José Padilla López, as a symbol of remembrance and gratitude for the great feat that unites the more than 33,000 men and women who serve the homeland from sea, land, air, and river. Likewise, solemn Eucharists were celebrated in gratitude to the Almighty for the protection of the Sailors, who work to protect Colombians and fulfill the constitutional mission.

The commemorative events concluded with majestic ceremonies, in which outstanding crew members were awarded the military medal, the Admiral Padilla Order of Naval Merit, for their selfless work and service to the institution and the country, contributing to the fulfillment of the mission and the well-being of Colombians, as well as worthy heirs to the legacy of this naval hero.

The main celebration took place in the industrial heart of Cartagena, at the Mamonal plant, where, in addition to the commemoration of the 202nd anniversary of the Naval Battle of Lake Maracaibo and Navy Day, the 25th anniversary of the Corporation for Science and Technology for the Development of the Naval Industry (COTECMAR) was also celebrated.

During this event, the official presentation of the vessels built by COTECMAR took place: the ARC Ocean Patrol Vessel «24 de Julio», the CAPS Coastal River Hospital Ship «Benkos Biohó», the DIMAR ARC Island Boat «Isla San Andrés», and the Marine Corps’ Shallow Draft Riverine Operations Boats. These units represent the embodiment of 25 years of national innovation in the service of the country’s sovereignty, health, and river and maritime development.

An Institution with Convincing Results

The Colombian Navy, thank you Through its permanent operational deployment by sea, river, air, and land, through the differential capabilities of the Surface Force, Coast Guard, Naval Aviation, Submarines, Marine Infantry, and Naval Intelligence, it has achieved outstanding results against transnational crime. This year, it seized more than 348 tons of narcotics, valued at over $14 billion, and captured more than 300 people for drug trafficking-related offenses.

In human protection at sea, the Navy, through its units, has supported the evacuation of 90 people and the rescue of 246 in various operations. Likewise, as guarantors of the protection and conservation of biodiversity, as well as natural, marine, and coastal resources, it has seized more than 18 tons of illegal fish and destroyed 110 pieces of machinery used for illegal mining extraction. It also rescued 6,035 species of protected fauna, a figure that exceeds the previous year.

During 2025, the Naval Institution, through its Naval Forces in the Caribbean, Pacific, Amazon, and Orinoquia, has carried out 25 Development Support Days in various vulnerable coastal and riverine communities. It has also supported seven farmers’ markets and eight entrepreneurship roundtables with local entrepreneurs in different regions of the country. These actions, combined with the «Sailing to the Heart» campaigns, have benefited more than 228,349 Colombians.

Thus, the more than 33,000 men and women, Colombian Marines, will continue to contribute to the well-being and comprehensive development of communities in every region of the country, through decisive actions that reflect the values and meaning of proudly wearing the uniform of the institution that protects the blue of the flag, from the seas, rivers, coasts, and island areas of the national territory to continue sailing to the heart.
