El exnarcotraficante colombiano Carlos Lehder, que fue fundador del Cartel de Medellín, fue arrestado este viernes al legar al aeropuerto internacional El Dorado de Bogotá, 38 años después de haber sido extraditado a Estados Unidos donde pagó una condena por narcotráfico. Lehder de 75 años de edad, llegó a Bogotá en un vuelo comercial procedente de Frankfurt (Alemania), país del que también es ciudadano y donde reside desde 2020.

Lehder fue capturado en Colombia en febrero de 1987 y extraditado poco después a estados unidos, donde fue condenado a 135 años de cárcel, pero su colaboración posterior con la justicia pago solo una pena de su condena en 2020 a ser dejado en libertad, en Alemania, en ver de Colombia.

Former Colombian drug trafficker Carlos Lehder, founder of the Medellín Cartel, was arrested this Friday upon arriving at Bogotá’s El Dorado International Airport, 38 years after being extradited to the United States, where he served time for drug trafficking. Lehder, 75, arrived in Bogotá on a commercial flight from Frankfurt (Germany), a country of which he is also a citizen and where he has resided since 2020.

Colombian Immigration has placed Carlos Enrique Lehder Rivas, a member of the Medellín cartel, at the disposal of the Colombian police.

He arrived in the country from Frankfurt, presenting an active arrest warrant in our information system, the agency reported on its X account.

The police did not report what crime the former drug lord’s arrest warrant is currently in force in the country.

Lehder was captured in Colombia in February 1987 and shortly afterward extradited to the United States, where he was sentenced to 135 years in prison. However, his subsequent collaboration with the justice system only served to atone for his sentence in 2020, and he was released in Germany, instead of Colombia.
