“El pueblo colombiano votó en paz y pensando en el porvenir del país”

Alocución del señor Presidente de la República, Gustavo Petro, al cierre de las Elecciones Territoriales 2023

Buenas noches, colombianos y colombianas. 

En el día de hoy, el país acudió a las urnas para elegir a sus Ediles, Concejales, Diputados, Alcaldes, y Gobernadores. Sin importar los resultados, es un día en el que el pueblo colombiano votó en paz y pensando en el porvenir del país, en una sociedad más solidaria, justa, y afectuosa, pensando en el mundo que le vamos a dejar a nuestros hijos y nietos, sin que predomine el miedo a la muerte. 

En total, los colombianos eligieron 20.137 por ciento entre representantes locales y departamentales de elección popular para los próximos cuatro años. La capacidad de la Fuerza Pública y los avances en la paz garantizaron en el territorio nacional una jornada tranquila y donde los colombianos y colombianas de zonas rurales y apartadas pudieron salir a votar sin la amenaza de organizaciones armadas o grupos políticos. 

Lamentablemente ayer en Gamarra, Cesar, incendiaron la Registraduría Municipal y dentro de sus instalaciones murió calcinada Duperly Arévalo Carrascal, una madre de dos hijos, de 13 y 7 años de edad, y funcionaria de la Registraduría. Esto nunca más puede volver a pasar. 

Como rechazo a este hecho, en Gamarra, ganó el voto en blanco. La lucha política no puede exacerbar odios. Debemos llegar al punto de poder discutir, plantear diferencias y desacuerdos, y que el conflicto no se tramite a través de la eliminación del contrario. Que sea la vida lo que salga más fortalecida de la discusión política, no la muerte. 

Gracias a las denuncias de la ciudadanía y las recompensas económicas, pudimos encontrar situaciones irregulares que entorpecieron la jornada democrática. Con la compra de votos, se construyó un régimen de corrupción. 

Los resultados que arrojó el Plan Democracia 2023, liderado por el Gobierno Nacional y la Fuerza Pública, tuvo un total de 92 capturados y se incautó un total de 1.112 millones de pesos y 13.700 Euros. 

No hubo fallas eléctricas ni ataques a la infraestructura eléctrica. No hubo muertos ni heridos, ni ningún enfrentamiento armado. 

Hoy hubo un día de paz en Colombia. Si hay algún tipo de inconformidad, le pedimos a la ciudadanía calma y prudencia ante los resultados. El Gobierno enviará delegaciones para resolver las quejas de la ciudadanía de acuerdo a la ley.

Today, the country went to the polls to elect its Councilors, Councilors, Deputies, Mayors, and Governors. Regardless of the results, it is a day in which the Colombian people voted in peace and thinking about the future of the country, in a more supportive, fair, and affectionate society, thinking about the world that we are going to leave to our children and grandchildren. , without the fear of death predominating.

In total, Colombians elected 20,137 percent of popularly elected local and departmental representatives for the next four years. The capacity of the Public Force and the advances in peace guaranteed a peaceful day in the national territory and where Colombians from rural and remote areas were able to go out to vote without the threat of armed organizations or political groups.

Unfortunately yesterday in Gamarra, Cesar, the Municipal Registry Office was set on fire and Duperly Arévalo Carrascal, a mother of two children, aged 13 and 7, and an official at the Registry Office, was burned to death inside its facilities. This can never happen again.

As a rejection of this fact, in Gamarra, she won the blank vote. Political struggle cannot exacerbate hatred. We must reach the point of being able to discuss, raise differences and disagreements, and that the conflict is not processed through the elimination of the opponent. Let it be life that emerges stronger from the political discussion, not death.

We hope that the judicial authorities and competent organizations do justice and determine the causes of this conflict that ended with this death.

Both the National Police and the Army have a presidential order to guarantee his life and freedom in the shortest possible time and locate those responsible for this unfortunate event.

Thanks to citizens’ complaints and financial rewards, we were able to find irregular situations that hindered the democratic journey. With the purchase of votes, a regime of corruption was built.

The results of the Democracy Plan 2023, led by the National Government and the Public Force, had a total of 92 captured and a total of 1,112 million pesos and 13,700 Euros were seized.
