La extorsión es un delito que siempre ha existido en Colombia, más en unos departamentos que en otros, pero en general ha azotado a todas las regiones.

Sin embargo, pocas veces como ahora se ha generalizado de tal manea que hoy ocupa uno de los primeros lugares en la lista de delitos de mayor ocurrencia y que más ha deteriorado la seguridad de la población.

Antes a las personas con alguna solvencia económica, previo seguimiento que permitiera conocer información clave que facilitara la comisión del delito, las contactaban, y le hacían saber que conocían que conocían quienes eran, que actividades tenían y como estaba conformado su núcleo familiar, las conminaban a entregar determinado dinero a cambio de no hacerles daño a ellas o a un mimbro de la familia.

Era delito cometido contra persona escogida, y evaluada que le podía garantizar a los delincuentes conseguir una retribución económica importante en cambio de no molestarla a ella a un familiar, como de permitirle ejecutar sus normales actividades, o de vender libremente los productos de su negocio.

Hoy es una practica que se ejecuta casi que indiscriminadamente contra comerciantes, profesionales, pequeños empresarios, emprendedores, empleados públicos, estudiantes, deportistas, artistas, amas de casa y en general contra todo el que deje conocer alguna información importante sobre su profesión o alguna actividad ciudadana.

Hay que tener en cuenta que desde las cárceles están llamando todos los días a miles de persona para exigirles dinero para no hacerle a ellos y a sus familiares, o para no atentar con sus negocios.

Extortion is a crime that has always existed in Colombia, more in some departments than in others, but in general it has affected all regions.

However, rarely has it become so widespread as now that today it occupies one of the first places on the list of crimes that occur most and that have most deteriorated the security of the population.

Previously, people with some financial solvency, after following up to reveal key information that would facilitate the commission of the crime, were contacted and told that they knew who they were, what activities they had and how their family was formed, and they were ordered to hand over a certain amount of money in exchange for not harming them or a family member.

It was a crime committed against a chosen and evaluated person that could guarantee the criminals a significant financial reward in exchange for not bothering them or a family member, or allowing them to carry out their normal activities, or freely sell the products of their business.

Today it is a practice that is carried out almost indiscriminately against merchants, professionals, small business owners, entrepreneurs, public employees, students, athletes, artists, housewives and in general against anyone who reveals important information about their profession or any civic activity.

It must be taken into account that thousands of people are called from prisons every day to demand money so as not to hurt them and their families, or to avoid attacking their businesses.
