Colombian sprinter Carlos Flórez qualified for the 2025 Tokyo World Championships after achieving a time of 10:00 seconds in the 100-meter final at the Mario Paz South American Grand Prix in Cochabamba, Bolivia. He achieved the victory after achieving the minimum time required in the 100 meters for the world championships, which will be held in September. Flórez also became the third national athlete to clock 10 seconds faster in the event. Others include Olympic athletes in Paris (2424) Ronald Longa (9.96), a national record, and Jonny Rentería (9.97).

Flórez became the sixth national athlete to qualify directly for the World Championships, joining Ronald Longa, Elvis Aguilar, Sandra Lorena Arenas, Flor Denis Ruiz, and Mauricio Ortega.
