La Policía de Tránsito y Transportes de Risaralda asestó un golpe contundente al narcotráfico y las bandas criminales con la incautación de un valioso cargamento de clorhidrato de cocaína.

El decomiso que alcanzó un peso significativo de 72.25 Kilogramos, representa un duro revés para esas redes ilegales.

En la vía que de la Virginia conduce a Viterbo, Caldas, a la altura  del peaje de Acapulco, la Policía de Tránsito y Transportes de Risaralda llevó  a cabo un operativo exitoso.

Mientras realizaba labores de registro y control en la vía,  los agentes al presentar registro a una camioneta donde descubrieron 62 paquetes rectangulares envueltos en papel vinipel negro con destino a Mondomo Medellín.

Tras el hallazgo del cargamento de estupefacientes, la fiscalía imputó a Mario Posada Aponte, el delito de tráfico,

fricación y porte de estupefacientes en la modalidad de transporte. Colombia and the United Arab Emirates sign Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement

The Ministers of Commerce, Industry and Tourism of Colombia, Germán Umaña Mendoza, and of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) , which they negotiated for two years, between November 2021 and December 2023.

This is the first Agreement that Colombia signs with Arab countries, which are markets with a high level of income and rapid growth, and that offer opportunities in different areas for Colombia.

Precisely, the greatest opportunities are in the manufacturing and agro-industrial sectors, given that the Emirates imports an annual average of US$19,000 million from the world in the agricultural and food sector, while Colombia sold non-mining goods for US$34.3 in 2023. millions.

During the process, the negotiating team not only prioritized the interests of the country, but also carried out the respective and permanent consultations with the productive sectors and with all Government entities related to the different issues under negotiation.

“We celebrate the signing of this Agreement, which is in line with the objectives that we promote from the Government of Change, and in line with our foreign trade, reindustrialization and tourism policies. «The United Arab Emirates is an important ally, not only in attracting sustainable foreign investment, but also in our commitment to the diversification of our exportable offer, with emphasis on the creation of related energy sources with the aim of counteracting climate change,» said Minister Umaña Mendoza.

For his part, the Minister of State for Foreign Trade of the United Arab Emirates, Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, assured that “our Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement with Colombia, the fourth largest economy in South America, is an exciting step. forward in our foreign trade agenda. “It opens up opportunities in a vibrant, high-growth nation to our exporters and investors, and provides an important bridge to the heart of South America.”

He added that this Agreement “is a reflection of the growing economic ties between our countries. It also opens up opportunities to strengthen relationships in priority sectors such as aviation, renewable energy, the environment, hydrogen, travel and artificial intelligence, and we look forward to developing these mutually beneficial areas in the months and years to come. “We are committed to open, rules-based trade and this agreement will create a range of opportunities for our private sector that will drive our respective growth agendas.”

The Agreement includes 19 chapters, among which are: access to goods markets; sanitary and phytosanitary measures; rules of origin; trade defense; SMEs; technical barriers to trade; economic cooperation; trade facilitation; services; digital commerce; environment and sustainable development and responsible tourism.

Within this universe there are products such as coffee and its preparations; fruits and vegetables and their preparations; confectionery; flowers; beef; chicken; dairy products; cocoa and chocolates; some cookies; juices; synthetic fibers; clothing; leather manufactures; footwear; paper manufactures; precious stones; tools; wood manufactures; plastic furniture; fertilizers and agrochemicals; soaps; watches and medical devices, among others.

This group also includes raw materials and capital goods, which will make it easier for Colombian companies to access this type of goods and help them be more competitive.

Another 13% of Colombian products that enter the United Arab Emirates will have a 5-year tariff reduction schedule. Among these products are: sweet cookies; waffles; medicines; ceramic products; machines and appliances, among others.

In the case of Emirati products, as soon as the Agreement comes into force, 63% will enter Colombia without tariffs. The remaining 37% will have reduction schedules of up to 12 years and maintains the price band mechanism mainly for oils and sugar.

Other issues

Another of the outstanding aspects of this Agreement is that it will contribute to the promotion and creation of strategic alliances to promote economic growth and development of people.
