Brigadier General John Henry López, nuevo Comandante del Comando Aéreo de Transporte Militar.

El señor Brigadier General John Henry López Mejía, asumió como nuevo Comandante del Comando Aéreo de Transporte Militar, CATAM, en ceremonia militar presidida por el señor Mayor General Edgar Mauricio Falla Vargas, Inspector General de la Fuerza Aeroespacial Colombiana (E).

El nuevo Comandante del CATAM nació en Manizales, Caldas, se graduó en la Escuela Militar de Aviación «Marco Fidel Suárez» en 1997 con el curso 70 de Oficiales y actualmente cuenta con 31 años de servicio activo. Es administrador aeronáutico, especializado en Política de Defensa y Seguridad Nacional, tiene un máster en Seguridad y Defensa Nacional y otro en Geopolítica y Geoestrategia, con experiencia en procesos de toma de decisiones con múltiples criterios y como oficial de cuerpo de vuelo, cuenta con un amplia trayectoria en los equipos T-41, T-27, A-37B, C-95, AC-47, SA2-37B, C-208, C-90, DO328, B-727 y C-130.

Durante los últimos años, se desempeñó en importantes cargos como Jefe del Centro de Operaciones Aéreas y Espaciales en el Comando de Operaciones Aéreas de la Fuerza Aeroespacial Colombiana, Agregado Aéreo en la Embajada de Colombia en Estados Unidos, Segundo Comandante y Jefe de Estado Mayor del CATAM, Jefe Jefatura de Movilidad Aérea y Oficial de Planes Estratégicos Externos en el Departamento de Operaciones Conjuntas del Comando General de las Fuerzas Militares de Colombia.

Durante la ceremonia militar, el Brigadier General López tomó el mando del Comando Aéreo de Transporte Militar, desde donde continuará llevando esperanza a la Colombia más profunda, liderando el despliegue de operaciones militares y humanitarias a nivel nacional e internacional, haciendo uso de una flota aérea dotada con tecnologías modernas y el mejor talento humano.

Brigadier General John Henry López, new Commander of the Military Air Transport Command.

Brigadier General John Henry López Mejía assumed command of the Military Air Transport Command (CATAM) in a military ceremony presided over by Major General Edgar Mauricio Falla Vargas, Inspector General of the Colombian Aerospace Force (E).

The new CATAM Commander was born in Manizales, Caldas, graduated from the «Marco Fidel Suárez» Military Aviation School in 1997 with the 70th Officer Training Course, and currently has 31 years of active service. He is an aeronautical administrator, specializing in Defense Policy and National Security, with a master’s degree in National Security and Defense and another in Geopolitics and Geostrategy. He has experience in multi-criteria decision-making processes and, as a flight officer, has extensive experience flying T-41, T-27, A-37B, C-95, AC-47, SA2-37B, C-208, C-90, DO328, B-727, and C-130 aircraft.

In recent years, he has held important positions such as Head of the Air and Space Operations Center at the Colombian Aerospace Force’s Air Operations Command, Air Attaché at the Colombian Embassy in the United States, Deputy Commander and Chief of Staff of CATAM (Air and Space Operations Command), Head of the Air Mobility Command, and External Strategic Plans Officer in the Joint Operations Department of the Colombian Military Forces’ General Command.

During the military ceremony, Brigadier General López assumed command of the Military Air Transport Command, from where he will continue to bring hope to the most remote areas of Colombia, leading the deployment of military and humanitarian operations both nationally and internationally, utilizing an air fleet equipped with modern technology and staffed by highly skilled personnel.
