MURAL DE AMOR A CHITA Y PANCHO

El mural ubicado en la calle 21 con carrera 11 esquina de Pereira, es un homenaje al amor de Chita y Pancho (la pareja más querida por miles de visitantes de Ukumarí) que fueron sacrificados el 24 de julio del 2023, por miembros de la Policía y el Ejército Nacional, en lugares aledaños al Bioparque Pereirano.

Hace un mes la alegre pareja, Chita y Pancho, aprovechando desatención de sus cuidadores, decidieron hacer uso de su libertad animal y escaparon de Ukumarí, para explorar alrededores. Si embargo, arguyendo peligro para seres humanos, decidieron eliminarlos y acabar con la historia de amor de estos hermosos e inofensivos chimpacés que, por mucho tiempo, fueron admirados por niños, jóvenes y adultos mayores que pagaron por observarlos.

“Después de que se conociera la muerte de estos dos chimpancés que causó conmoción, los hechos todavía no son claros, pues en redes sociales muchos usuarios y movimientos animalistas manifestaron su inconformidad sobre la manera en que se ejecutó la activación del código rojo de emergencia por parte del Bioparque Ukumarí.

Una activación en la que veterinarios, bomberos, uniformados de la Policía y cuidadores del parque “debidamente capacitados” para actuar en situaciones de emergencia realizaban labores de búsqueda de un “animal que puede causar la muerte de una o varias personas (…), dada su alta peligrosidad por su comportamiento (…)”, explicó Sandra Correa Montoya, la gerente de Ukumarí a Radio Nacional de Colombia, no obstante, se les olvidó que por instinto animal debían conservar la distancia, actuar con prudencia y estrategia para haber evitado una muerte a sangre fría y sin corazón como ocurrió.

Entonces, es más que seguro que este sacrificio innecesario y cruel es resultado de una improvisación en el protocolo de acción de Ukumarí para enfrentar estas situaciones.

Pues al parecer el escape de Pacho y Chita además de responder a un error humano también hay rumores de que en ese momento había un evento político al interior de Ukumaríde acuerdo con W Radio, razón por la que el descuido podría ser mayor de lo que se pensaba.

Lo triste es que, los animales son más fieles y en muchas ocasiones, mejores que los seres humanos, dan la vida por sus amos a quienes aman incondicionalmente, por lo tanto, vale la pena valorar la vida de un animal de igual manera a una humana cuando se tiene el poder de controlar una situación de emergencia como en este caso.

Todavía nadie entiende, cómo es posible que Pacho, un Chimpancé que fue donado por Raúl Gasca a Ukumarí dado que la ley colombiana prohibió el uso de animales en espectáculos circenses, le hacía caso a Gasca quien lo educóy consideraba su hijo de acuerdo con lo narrado a Blu Radio, fuera asesinado o sacrificado sin que “los empleados del parque que contaban con material para dormir a los chimpancés” según lo narrado al mismo medio de comunicación por la coronel Alexandra Díaz, comandante de la Policía de Pereira, lo usaran en esta emergencia que, según Díaz, “no fue la adecuada para lograrlo”.

Pero a qué se refería con que “la situación no fue la adecuada para lograrlo”, acaso ¿ni siquiera lo intentaron? ¿Alos expertos de Ukumarí se les olvidó que los animales son seres sintientes y que también tienen derechos? ¿los“expertos” de este Bioparque no saben disparar dardos tranquilizantes o quizás no los saben manipular?

Y así, tienen el descaro, porque sí, es un descaro que por un error humano de los colaboradores de este zoológico tengan que pagar dos chimpancés que en medio de su inocencia animal salieron a divertirse y los castigaron con tiros de fúsil en donde perdieron la vida por culpa de sus cuidadores.

Pero, pues a explicaciones más que pedidas, Sandra Correa, llorando en W Radio dijo que los chimpancés habían estado siete años en Ukumarí, que le dolía lo sucedido, pero que como parte del protocolo de acción era necesario asesinar a los chimpancés debido a que el efecto de un dardo tranquilizante podría surtir efecto entre 10 y 30 minutos.

Un segundo, ¿acaso los dardos tranquilizantes no son para enfrentar situaciones como esta?

Si se usan los miligramos que corresponden al peso del animal y se dispara a una distancia prudente y a tiempo, hace efecto en máximo 5 minutos, según el portal web microsiervos, sin que nadie salga herido y conservando la integridad del animal, por lo que entonces se pone en tela de juicio la competencia, idoneidad, aptitud y suficiencia tanto de la gerente Correa como de sus colaboradores y cuidadores sobre la forma de enfrentar este tipo de situaciones en la que deben estar suficientemente capacitados para no ejecutar un protocolo con tanta improvisación que se salió de control.

Pero y Chita, ¿también la mataron por qué supuestamente representaba un peligro?, pero, ¿un peligro para quien si estaba en Ukumarí ?, fuera de su hábitat pero no había salido del Bioparque, ¿cuál es la justificación de su neutralización?¿por su estado de euforia tocaba dispararle? ¿En este caso tampoco pudieron usar los dardos tranquilizantes?

En fin, una situación que se le salió de las manos al bioparque Ukumarí por la falta de organización en la ejecución del código rojo de emergencia donde mataron a dos animales por un error y falta de atención de sus cuidadores que tan solo disfrutaban de su hábitat día a día mientras eran el centro de atención de los visitantes del zoológico.

Menos mal la Procuraduría ya pidió claridad sobre la muerte de los chimpancés y solicitó información sobre los protocolos para el rescate de los dos animales que habían escapado del bioparque horas antes.

“Las directivas de Ukumarí deberán indicar las circunstancias que rodearon el operativo de búsqueda, confirmando a la Procuraduría el protocolo para atender este tipo de emergencias y las razones que dieron origen a su muerte, precisando si el incidente fue reportado a la Corporación Autónoma Regional de Risaralda”, indicó el Ministerio Público.

Por su parte, la Fiscalía General de la Nación señaló que a través de GELMA, un grupo que investiga y judicializa los casos relacionados con el delito de maltrato animal a nivel nacional, “abrió noticia criminal y avanza en la recolección de información y evidencia física que permita establecer las circunstancias en las que ocurrieron los hechos”.

El pronunciamiento mundial sigue su curso ante el “asesinato” de Chita y Pancho, los dos chimpacés más queridos por los visitantes del Bioparque Ukumarí. Las investigaciones, hasta estas horas finales de la celebración de los 160 años de Pereira, siguen sin arrojar resultados positivos, mientras la tristeza embarga el corazón de millones de ambientalistas mundiales.

However, citing danger to humans, they decided to eliminate them and put an end to the love story of these beautiful and harmless chimpanzees who, for a long time, were admired by children, young people, and older adults who paid to observe them.

“After the death of these two chimpanzees was known, which caused a commotion, the facts are still not clear, since on social networks many users and animal movements expressed their disagreement about the way in which the activation of the emergency code red by part of the Ukumarí Biopark.

An activation in which veterinarians, firefighters, police uniforms and park caretakers «duly trained» to act in emergency situations carried out search for an «animal that can cause the death of one or more people (…), given its high danger due to its behavior (…)”, explained Sandra Correa Montoya, the manager of Ukumarí to Radio Nacional de Colombia, however, they forgot that by animal instinct they had to keep their distance, act prudently and strategically to have avoided a cold-blooded, heartless death as it occurred.

The sad thing is that animals are more faithful and on many occasions, better than human beings, they give their lives for their masters whom they love unconditionally, therefore, it is worth valuing the life of an animal in the same way as a person. when you have the power to control an emergency situation as in this case.

Still no one understands how it is possible that Pacho, a chimpanzee that was donated by Raúl Gasca to Ukumarí since Colombian law prohibited the use of animals in circus shows, listened to Gasca who raised him and considered his son according to what was narrated. to Blu Radio, was killed or sacrificed without «the park employees who had material to put the chimpanzees to sleep» according to what Colonel Alexandra Díaz, commander of the Pereira Police, told the same media outlet, used it in this emergency that, according to Díaz, «was not adequate to achieve it.»

But what did he mean by “the situation was not adequate to achieve it”, did they not even try? Did the Ukumarí experts forget that animals are sentient beings and that they also have rights? The «experts» of this Biopark don’t know how to shoot tranquilizer darts or maybe they don’t know how to handle them?

And so, they have the nerve, because yes, it is nerve that, due to a human error by the collaborators of this zoo, they have to pay two chimpanzees who, in the midst of their animal innocence, went out to have fun and punished them with rifle shots where they lost their minds. life because of their caregivers.

But, after more than asked for explanations, Sandra Correa, crying on W Radio, said that the chimpanzees had been in Ukumarí for seven years, that what happened hurt her, but that as part of the action protocol it was necessary to kill the chimpanzees because they the effect of a tranquilizer dart could take effect in 10 to 30 minutes.

Wait a second, aren’t tranquilizer darts for dealing with situations like this?

But what about Chita, was she also killed because she supposedly represented a danger? But, a danger to who if she was in Ukumarí? Out of her habitat but had not left the Biopark, what is the justification for her neutralization? Due to his state of euphoria, was it time to shoot him? In this case they couldn’t use the tranquilizer darts either?

In short, a situation that got out of hand for the Ukumarí biopark due to the lack of organization in the execution of the red emergency code where two animals were killed due to an error and lack of attention from their keepers who were only enjoying their habitat day by day as they were the center of attention for zoo visitors.

Fortunately, the Attorney General’s Office already asked for clarity about the death of the chimpanzees and requested information about the protocols for the rescue of the two animals that had escaped from the biopark hours before.

«Ukumarí’s directives must indicate the circumstances surrounding the search operation, confirming to the Attorney General the protocol to deal with this type of emergency and the reasons that gave rise to his death, specifying whether the incident was reported to the Regional Autonomous Corporation of Risaralda”, indicated the Public Ministry.

For its part, the Attorney General’s Office indicated that through GELMA, a group that investigates and prosecutes cases related to the crime of animal abuse at the national level, «opened criminal and advances in the collection of information and physical evidence that allows establishing the circumstances in which the events occurred.”

The global pronouncement continues its course before the «murder» of Chita and Pancho, the two chimpanzees most loved by visitors to the Ukumarí Biopark. The investigations, up to these final hours of the celebration of Pereira’s 160 years, continue without yielding positive results, while sadness seizes the hearts of millions of global environmentalists.
