Esta es la conclusión a la que llega el jefe de Estado, citando unas declaraciones entregadas a la cadena de noticias FOX  por el secretario del Tesoro de los Estados Unidos, Scott Bessent, en la que se refirió a las tensiones en ambas naciones y la necesidad de contar con energía barata.

El secretario Bessent expresó a la cadena FOX: “Hay muchas posibilidades de que, si algo ocurre con Rusia y Ucrania, si algo ocurre en Venezuela, veamos una caída drástica de los precios del petróleo», declaración que fue reproducida por varios medios de comunicación en redes sociales.​

Retomando estas versiones, el presidente Petro subrayó en su cuenta en red social X que, ante esa situación que describe el funcionario estadounidense “se desplomarán los precios internacionales y el petróleo será monopolio árabe, Estados Unidos quedará con petróleo pesado y Ecopetrol entrará a números rojos».

Por lo tanto, añadió, “los que aplauden la invasión, lo q​​ue desatan es la quiebra de Ecopetrol y de millones de venezolanos hermanos en nuestro territorio», voces que calificó de “irresponsables» y “apátridas».

En el mensaje enfatizó que, “no apoyo a Maduro, quiero una solución política y pacífica en Venezuela, pero no apoyo una invasión».

Ni Maduro ni invasión

En otro post sobre el tema, el mandatario también manifiesta su rechazó a la suspensión de vuelos a Venezuela anunciados por varias aerolíneas comerciales, medida que justifican por una supuesta inseguridad en el espacio aéreo de ese país.

Recalcó que “debe haber vuelos normales a todos los países de América Latina, desde América Latina y el mundo. Los países no se bloquean, porque se bloquean pueblos y eso debe ser crimen contra la humanidad».

Y advirtió que: “Ningún Estado de un país debe meterse en los asuntos de otro estado. La multilateralidad debe pasar a la gobernanza de leyes globales, justicia global y regulación global en todo lo que pueda acabar la vida en el planeta, como el clima o la inteligencia artificial, o las medicinas fundamentales, la telecomunicación mundial.

This is the conclusion reached by the head of state, citing statements made to FOX News by U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent, in which he referred to the tensions between the two nations and the need for cheap energy.

Secretary Bessent told FOX News: “There is a strong possibility that if something happens with Russia and Ukraine, if something happens in Venezuela, we will see a drastic drop in oil prices,” a statement that was reproduced by several media outlets on social media.

Revisiting these reports, President Petro emphasized on his social media account that, given the situation described by the U.S. official, “international prices will plummet and oil will become an Arab monopoly, the United States will be left with heavy crude, and Ecopetrol will go into the red.”

Therefore, he added, “those who applaud the invasion are unleashing the bankruptcy of Ecopetrol and millions of our Venezuelan brothers and sisters in our territory,” voices he described as “irresponsible” and “unpatriotic.”

In the message, he emphasized that, “I do not support Maduro; I want a political and peaceful solution in Venezuela, but I do not support an invasion.”

In another post on the subject, the president also expressed his rejection of the suspension of flights to Venezuela announced by several commercial airlines, a measure they justify by citing alleged insecurity in that country’s airspace.

He stressed that “there must be normal flights to all countries in Latin America, from Latin America, and from the rest of the world. Countries should not be blockaded, because that would be blocking entire populations, and that should be considered a crime against humanity.”

And he warned that: “No state should interfere in the affairs of another state. Multilateralism must extend to the governance of global laws, global justice, and global regulation in everything that could end life on the planet, such as climate change, artificial intelligence, essential medicines, and global telecommunications.”
