Una vez más, la Querendona Pereira nos da una lección de civismo y alegría desbordante. Con ese espíritu innato que la caracteriza, la ciudad se ha adelantado al calendario; transformando el final de noviembre, en el inicio oficial de la Navidad. Las luces festivas ya brillan, bañando las calles con un fulgor que irradia esperanza y felicidad.

Este adelanto, no es solo un capricho; es un reflejo del alma alegre de “La Ciudad de las 700 mil sonrisas”. Aunque hoy, es viernes 21 noviembre 2025, las familias ya saborean el festejo: en los 419 barrios. El aroma a natilla y buñuelos, avivan el apetito cada día; mientras que -en las emisoras- los villancicos se mezclan con la música parrandera del viejito 2025.

Imposible ignorar el clásico: “Ya llegó diciembre con su alegría, mes de parranda y diversión”, un himno de la alegría, creado por el compositor antioqueño Francisco “El Mono” González en 1938, y popularizado -en 1952- por la voz de la vallecaucana Lucy Figueroa. Esta melodía, es felicidad anticipada, en nuestra ciudad.

Rindo homenaje al cantautor envigadeño Joaquín Emilio Bedoya Gómez, hoy 21 noviembre 2025, once años después de su partida, vencido por un cáncer, pero inmortalizado con su disco de oro: AÑO VIEJO MALICIOSO -“Año viejo, viejo perro / Año viejo malicioso / Ya que no me diste nada /…/ Sólo me diste una esposa / Regañona y muy celosa / Un suegro que no trabaja / Y la suegra cantaletosa…” Bedoyita, le regaló una dosis  de humor y sátira a la despedida anual, recordándonos que, incluso en la parranda, hay espacio para la queja jocosa.

La evidencia de que la Navidad ya está instalada, es palpable. Los vecinos, de la mayoría de los barrios, lucen adornos navideños y luces multicolores, creando un espectáculo de color y brillo que es el deleite de todos. Miles de chiquillos, al ver el resplandor, corretean por las calles, dando rienda suelta a su desbordante y contagiosa alegría.

Pereira, la de siempre, nos enseña que -el futuro inmediato- se vive con júbilo; y que, para la Navidad, nunca es demasiado pronto.

Desde mi arbolito navideño, instalado en mi corazón, hago llegar a mis lectores: luces de amor y agradecimientos.

PEREIRA LIGHTS UP ITS CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Once again, our beloved Pereira gives us a lesson in civic pride and overflowing joy. With that innate spirit that characterizes it, the city has jumped the gun on the calendar, transforming the end of November into the official start of Christmas. The festive lights are already shining, bathing the streets in a glow that radiates hope and happiness.

This early start is not just a whim; it is a reflection of the joyful soul of «The City of 700,000 Smiles.» Although today is Friday, November 21, 2025, families are already savoring the festivities in all 419 neighborhoods. The aroma of natilla and buñuelos whets the appetite each day; Meanwhile, on the radio, Christmas carols are mixed with the festive music of the year 2025.

It’s impossible to ignore the classic: “December has arrived with its joy, a month of revelry and fun,” an anthem of joy, created by the Antioquian composer Francisco “El Mono” González in 1938, and popularized in 1952 by the voice of Lucy Figueroa from Valle del Cauca. This melody is a taste of early happiness in our city.

I pay tribute to the singer-songwriter from Envigado, Joaquín Emilio Bedoya Gómez, today, November 21, 2025, eleven years after his passing, defeated by cancer, but immortalized with his gold record: AÑO VIEJO MALICIOSO (Malicious Old Year) – “Old year, old dog / Malicious old year / Since you gave me nothing /…/ You only gave me a wife / Nagging and very jealous / A father-in-law who doesn’t work / And the nagging mother-in-law…” Bedoya, known as Bedoya, gifted a dose of humor and satire to the annual farewell, reminding us that even in the festivities, there’s room for playful complaining.

The evidence that Christmas has arrived is palpable. Neighbors in most neighborhoods are displaying Christmas decorations and multicolored lights, creating a spectacle of color and sparkle that delights everyone. Thousands of children, seeing the glow, run through the streets, giving free rein to their overflowing and contagious joy.

Pereira, as always, teaches us that the immediate future is to be lived with jubilation; and that, for Christmas, it’s never too early.
