PROBLEMAS EN CENTROS CARCELARIOS.

El reciente asesinato y el supuesto suicidio ocurrido en el interior de las celdas de una de las cárceles más grande e importante del país, confirma una vez más los graves y crecientes problemas de la seguridad, de control y de corrupción que tiene el sistema carcelario de Colombia.

¿Qué hacia armado el asesino del principal testigo en el proceso que sigue la justicia por el asesinato del fiscal paraguayo antimafia Marcelo Picci y por que razón un testigo tan valioso en esta investigación, estaba en un centro de reclusión corriente y compartiendo celda con otro interno?

La otra pregunta que hoy se hace todo el mundo es por qué el interno asesinado fue trasladado del bunker de la Fiscalía donde tenía las mejores condiciones de seguridad, para la pista, a pesar de los llamados de los abogados y familiares que habían advertid de las amenazas que venía recibiendo la víctima es  que estaba colaborando con la justicia.

Este hecho, por su puesto, es solo uno más de los muchos que se han presentado en los últimos meses en el interior de los distintos penales del país o que han involucrado a personal directivo, o administrativo, o de vigilancia de los diferentes centros de reclusión y que han dejado internos asesinados, fugados y funcionarios destituidos.

Todas las investigaciones que se han llevado para esclarecer hecho ocurridos en la cárceles, han concluido que en todos esos lugres, no importa la importancia ni su nivel de seguridad, están a merced,  del poder que ejercen algunos internos de más alta peligrosidad y las organizaciones criminales que operan actualmente que han extendido sus tentáculos al interior de las cárceles donde están recluidos sus jefes.

Si hay algo que necesita urgente es ajustar el sistema carcelario, de tal manera que garantice que las cárceles y penitenciarias, sean verdaderos centros de mayor seguridad. RISON PROBLEMS ARE GETTING WORSE.

The recent murder and alleged suicide that occurred inside the cells of one of the largest and most important prisons in the country, confirms once again the serious and growing problems of security, control and corruption that the Colombian prison system has.

What was the murderer of the main witness in the process that the justice system is following for the murder of the Paraguayan anti-mafia prosecutor Marcelo Picci doing armed and why was such a valuable witness in this investigation in a normal prison and sharing a cell with another inmate?

The other question that everyone is asking today is why the murdered inmate was transferred from the Prosecutor’s bunker where he had the best security conditions, to the track, despite the calls from lawyers and family members who had warned that the victim was cooperating with justice because of the threats he had been receiving.

This incident, of course, is just one of many that have occurred in recent months inside the country’s various prisons or that have involved management, administrative or security personnel from the different detention centers and that have left inmates murdered, escaped and dismissed.

All the investigations that have been carried out to clarify events that occurred in prisons have concluded that in all these places, no matter how important or secure they are, they are at the mercy of the power exercised by some of the most dangerous inmates and the criminal organizations that currently operate that have extended their tentacles inside the prisons where their bosses are held.

If there is one thing that urgently needs to be done, it is to adjust the prison system in such a way as to ensure that prisons and penitentiaries are truly centres of greater security. RISON PROBLEMS ARE GETTING WORSE.
