Durante la Cumbre del Tigre que tuvo lugar en Rusia en el año 2010, Año del Tigre según la cultura china, se decretó que cada 29 de julio se celebraría el Día Internacional del Tigre. Esta iniciativa surgió del hasta entonces Primer Ministro de Rusia, hoy en día Presidente del país Vladimir Putin, quien congregó a los líderes de los 13 países que aún cuentan con población de tigres en estado de libertad.
Los países que firmaron el pacto de la cumbre fueron Bangladesh, Bután, China, India, Indonesia, Camboya, Laos, Malasia, Myanmar, Nepal, Tailandia,Vi…
