DECLARACION DE LOS EXCANCILLERS DE COLOMBIA

La preocupante y lamentable situación que se vive entre Israel y palestina merece la consideración y acción de toda la comunidad internacional. No hay justificación alguna para los ataques de Hamás ni para los secuestros y asesinatos de civiles.

Estos actos merecen el mas firme rechazo y condena, toda vez que constituyen una grave violación de la carta de naciones unidas y de las normas internacionales de protección de población civil.

La censura de estas acciones debe también exigir el cumplimiento por parte de los dos países de las resoluciones de las naciones unidas sobre el conflicto entre los estados, así como la acción inmediata del consejo de seguridad para velar por la seguridad y la paz internacional.

Lo9s mensajes del presidente e la republica y de la cancillería colombiana se separan de manera radical de la tradición de nuestro país por el respeto al derecho internacional y al multilateralismo. Su contenido y alcance alejan las posibilidades de lograr una política de consenso en los asuntos internacionales y debilitan la institucionalidad de nuestra diplomacia.

Es urgente apoyar de forma decidida el fin de las agresiones entre Israel y palestina y encontrar las formulas de acuerdo que garanticen la estabilidad y convivencia en sus territorios

DECLARATION OF THE FORMER CHANCELLORS OF COLOMBIA

The worrying and regrettable situation between Israel and Palestine deserves the consideration and action of the entire international community. There is no justification for Hamas attacks or for the kidnappings and murders of civilians.

These acts deserve the strongest rejection and condemnation, since they constitute a serious violation of the United Nations Charter and international standards for the protection of the civilian population.

The censure of these actions must also demand compliance by the two countries with the United Nations resolutions on the conflict between states, as well as immediate action by the security council to ensure international peace and security.

The messages of the president of the republic and the Colombian foreign ministry are radically separated from our country’s tradition of respect for international law and multilateralism. Its content and scope distance the possibilities of achieving a policy of consensus in international affairs and weaken the institutionality of our diplomacy.

It is urgent to decisively support the end of aggression between Israel and Palestine and find agreement formulas that guarantee stability and coexistence in their territories.
