La fiesta bogotana inició en la madrugada del sábado 24 de junio 2023 y luego, el alborozo llegó al Monumental Estadio Nemesio Camacho EL CAMPÍN, adornado con prendas azules y matizado con juegos pirotécnicos.

¡MILLONARIOS ES EL NUEVO CAMPEÓN DEL FÚTBOL PROFESIONAL COLOMBIANO! Luego de mantenerse en los primeros puestos del todos contra todos, terminar líder de su grupo en cuadrangulares y ser el mejor equipo de la reclasificación, los Embajadores se quedaron con el título de vencer 3-2 en los penales a Atlético Nacional en la gran final de vuelta de la Liga BetPlay 2023-I en el estadio Nemesio Camacho El Campín de Bogotá.

La estrella es el premio a un semestre impecable por parte de los dirigidos por Alberto Gamero, que, durante toda la campaña, solamente perdieron tres partidos de los 28 que disputaron. 14 partidos ganados y 10 empates fue su balance del semestre, en el que además terminaron como el club más goleador con 40 anotaciones convertidas.

Oficiando de local el equipo estuvo muy fuerte y sacó buenos resultados, luego de no perder ningún partido en su estadio. Las dos victorias en los clásicos ante Independiente Santa Fe, el triunfo 4-3 ante América de Cali y los triunfos 2-1 ante Independiente Medellín y 2-0 ante Deportivo Cali fueron algunos de los resultados más destacados.

Durante gran parte del semestre y debido a los compromisos internacionales en las rondas clasificatorias de la Copa Libertadores y la fase de grupos de la Copa Sudamericana, el equipo tuvo que hacer uso de una nómina alterna, la cual también logró buenos resultados logrando un punto ante Atlético Nacional en condición de visitante, sumando de a tres en el Alfonso López frente a Atlético Bucaramanga, así como el empate ante Unión Magdalena en Santa Marta.

Alberto Gamero acompaña a Gabriel Ochoa Uribe como los únicos que han logrado ser campeones con Millonarios como entrenador y como jugador.

Millonarios FC de la mano de Alberto Gamero logró su decimosexto título de Liga en Colombia y sacó ventaja frente a América de Cali, con quienes compartía el segundo lugar como el club con más estrellas del fútbol colombiano. Este es el segundo campeonato ganado por el director técnico desde que llegó al cuadro Embajador y en redes quedó registrada su emotiva celebración.

En una final inédita en la historia del fútbol colombiano, Millonarios consiguió su estrella 16 en la Liga ante uno de sus grandes rivales, Atlético Nacional. A nivel económico, el título es la consolidación de un éxito empresarial que registró un incremento en los ingresos el año pasado y que en este le permitió alcanzar un nuevo campeonato.

El conjunto bogotano cerró, además, un gran torneo, en el que solo perdió tres partidos y en el que se mantuvo invicto en El Campín. La final se resolvió con dramatismo, con cobros desde el punto penal, después de que en los 90 minutos terminaran empatados a un gol.

La anotación de Nacional llegó a los 30 minutos del primer tiempo con Jefferson Duque, pero luego el empate se dio a los 70 minutos, con un gol de Andrés Llinás. En los penales, el arquero Álvaro Montero fue la gran estrella, pues le tapó cuatro de los cinco cobros al equipo paisa y le dio paso para que Larry Vásquez anotara el último tiro con el que el conjunto albiazul bordó una nueva estrella en su escudo.

El éxito empresarial de Millonarios se sella con el título, pero también se observa en sus ingresos, en donde en 2022 tuvo ventas por $67.437 millones, superiores a los $36.643 millones que se registraron un año antes.

La alineación por parte del ‘verde paisa’ para el encuentro estuvo conformada por Kevin Mier; Yerson Candelo, Felipe Aguirre, Cristian Zapata, Danovis Banguero; Nelson Deossa, Sebastián Gómez, Nelson Palacio; Tomás Ángel, Dorlan Pabón y Jefferson Duque.

Al minuto 70, cuando los nervios comenzaban a apoderarse de las tribuna del estadio El Campín, en Bogotá, el canterano albiazul Andrés Llinás convirtió el empate, forzando los penaltis.

En la definición por penales,  Álvaro Montero, atajó los disparos de Jarlan Barrera y Cristian Zapata para darle el título al equipo de la capital.
