POR EL CORRESPONSAL DE GUERRA. LUIS ALBERTO FIGUEROA. Colombia, Estados Unidos y Francia refuerzan lucha contra el crimen transnacional en el mar Caribe.

Colombia y Francia realizaron la operación binacional “Tucán Royal” en aguas del mar Caribe, reafirmando su compromiso con la cooperación internacional y la seguridad marítima regional.

En esta edición, el USS “Normandy”, crucero de misiles guiados de la Marina de los Estados Unidos de América, se unió al desarrollo de los ejercicios navales. 

Durante cuatro días, buques de guerra y unidades aeronavales de la Armada de Colombia, la Marina de los Estados Unidos de América y la Marina Nacional de Francia, llevaron a cabo ejercicios de interdicción marítima, maniobras navales, comunicaciones tácticas y operaciones aeronavales. La Fragata Misilera ARC “Almirante Padilla” con una aeronave de ala rotatoria embarcada, participaron junto al USS «Normandy», crucero de la clase Ticonderoga, al portahelicópteros «Mistral» y la fragata «Surcouf» de clase La Fayette, en el desarrollo de estos ejercicios. Estas acciones buscan incrementar la interoperabilidad, fortalecer el entrenamiento y consolidar la cooperación internacional, en materia de seguridad y control del mar.

La operación “Tucán Royal” hace parte de una estrategia multinacional para combatir el narcotráfico por vía marítima y sus delitos conexos, a través de la cual se desarrollan operaciones y ejercicios de entrenamiento naval. Esta cooperación, permite potenciar las capacidades de las instituciones y mejorar su interoperabilidad, con el fin de desarrollar operaciones más efectivas contra las amenazas transnacionales.

 Colombia mantiene vigentes diversos acuerdos de cooperación internacional con diferentes países en el mar Caribe, mediante los cuales la Armada Nacional, articula y participa en operaciones multinacionales de defensa y seguridad. Estas alianzas contribuyen al desarrollo de la región, permitiendo espacios marítimos más seguros, la libre navegación y fortaleciendo la gobernanza marítima global y regional.

Colombia and France carried out the binational operation «Tucán Royal» in the waters of the Caribbean Sea, reaffirming their commitment to international cooperation and regional maritime security.

In this edition, the USS Normandy, a guided-missile cruiser of the United States Navy, joined the naval exercises.

For four days, warships and naval air units from the Colombian Navy, the United States Navy, and the French Navy conducted maritime interdiction exercises, naval maneuvers, tactical communications, and air-naval operations. The ARC Missile Frigate «Almirante Padilla,» with an embarked rotary-wing aircraft, participated alongside the Ticonderoga-class cruiser USS «Normandy,» the helicopter carrier «Mistral,» and the La Fayette-class frigate «Surcouf,» in these exercises. These actions seek to increase interoperability, strengthen training, and consolidate international cooperation in matters of security and maritime control.

Operation «Tucán Royal» is part of a multinational strategy to combat maritime drug trafficking and related crimes, through which naval training operations and exercises are carried out. This cooperation strengthens the capabilities of institutions and improves their interoperability, in order to develop more effective operations against transnational threats.

Colombia maintains several international cooperation agreements with different countries in the Caribbean Sea, through which the National Navy coordinates and participates in multinational defense and security operations. These alliances contribute to the development of the region, enabling safer maritime spaces, free navigation, and strengthening global and regional maritime governance.
