Risaralda sigue registrando muertes por desnutrición en menores de 5 años de edad, según manifestaron desde la Procuraduría General de la Nación, en el primer mes de este 2024 se presentaron 12 fallecimientos de dicha población por causas asociadas a la desnutrición, 2 de ellos en el territorio risaraldense, la misma cantidad que tuvo la Guajira que tradicionalmente ha sido un departamento con muchos decesos por esta razón.

Desde el hospital San Rafael de Puelo Rico, afirmaron que pueden ser muchos más casos los que se registran en Risaralda, pero muchas veces las comunidades indígenas no llevan a los menores de edad hasta un centro de salud.

Risaralda continues to register deaths due to malnutrition in children under 5 years of age, as stated by the Attorney General’s Office, in the first month of 2024 there were 12 deaths in said population due to causes associated with malnutrition, 2 of them in the Risaraldense territory, the same amount that Guajira had, which has traditionally been a department with many deaths for this reason.

From the San Rafael de Puelo Rico hospital, they stated that there may be many more cases that are registered in Risaralda, but many times the indigenous communities do not take minors to a health center.
