«Desatar el diálogo político en Venezuela y convocar elecciones con garantías reales para todos los contendientes», escribió el presidente Gustavo Petro en X.

El jefe de Estado, a través de su cuenta en la red social X, escribió sobre la necesidad de buscar una salida pacífica a la situación política en Venezuela y poner fin a las operaciones militares en el Caribe.

“Desatar el diálogo político en Venezuela y convocar elecciones con garantías reales para todos los contendientes. Bien haría (Nicolás) Maduro y (María) Corina (Machado) en permitir esta solución pacífica y soberana del pueblo venezolano», dijo el presidente en X.

El mandatario hizo referencia al tema en respuesta a un mensaje del periodista de CNN Zachary Cohen (@ZcohenCNN), quien informó en X que no hay planes del Gobierno de Estados Unidos de atacar a Venezuela.

“Funcionarios de Trump informaron el miércoles a legisladores que Estados Unidos NO planea actualmente lanzar ataques dentro de Venezuela y que NO tiene una justificación legal que respalde ataques contra objetivos terrestres en este momento, según nos informan fuentes», informó Cohen.

Al respecto, el presidente Petro manifestó en el mensaje que “si el gobierno de EE.UU. reconoce que no es legal atacar a Venezuela, coinciden conmigo».

Asimismo, consideró que “ni los misiles ni una invasión extranjera son legales, ni bajo la ley de los EE.UU. ni bajo los tratados internacionales».

No es la primera vez que el primer mandatario de los colombianos se refiere a la campaña militar de Estados Unidos en el Caribe contra embarcaciones que supuestamente transportan cocaína.

Este jueves, al intervenir en la ceremonia de apertura de la Conferencia de las Naciones Unidas sobre el Clima (COP30) en Brasil, hizo referencia al tema. Igual durante su reciente gira por Oriente Medio y el norte de África.

“Los mismos misiles que caen sobre los niños y las niñas de Gaza. Hoy caen sobre pobres jóvenes que no son narcos sino empleados de los narcos o a veces pescadores. En las lanchas rápidas en el Caribe más casi 70 asesinatos que rompen el derecho internacional humanitario a través del principio de la proporcionalidad de la fuerza», recalcó en la COP30.

The head of state, through his Twitter account, wrote about the need to find a peaceful solution to the political situation in Venezuela and put an end to military operations in the Caribbean.

“Unleash political dialogue in Venezuela and call for elections with real guarantees for all contenders. (Nicolás) Maduro and (María) Corina (Machado) would do well to allow this peaceful and sovereign solution for the Venezuelan people,” the president said on X.

The president addressed the issue in response to a message from CNN journalist Zachary Cohen (@ZcohenCNN), who reported on X that the U.S. government has no plans to attack Venezuela.

“Trump officials informed lawmakers on Wednesday that the United States does NOT currently plan to launch attacks inside Venezuela and that it has NO legal justification to support attacks against ground targets at this time, according to our sources,” Cohen reported.

In response, President Petro stated in his message that “if the U.S. government recognizes that it is not legal to attack Venezuela, they agree with me.”

He also asserted that “neither missiles nor a foreign invasion are legal, neither under U.S. law nor under international treaties.”

This is not the first time the Colombian president has addressed the United States’ military campaign in the Caribbean against vessels allegedly transporting cocaine.

This Thursday, speaking at the opening ceremony of the United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30) in Brazil, he referred to the issue. He also did so during his recent tour of the Middle East and North Africa.

«The same missiles that fall on the children of Gaza are now falling on poor young people who are not drug traffickers but rather their employees or sometimes fishermen. In the Caribbean, there have been almost 70 murders in speedboats, violating international humanitarian law through the principle of proportionality of force,» he emphasized at COP30.
