El 13 de mayo se celebra el Día Mundial del Entrenador de Fútbol, para homenajear a un miembro clave dentro de un equipo de fútbol: el entrenador.

Un entrenador de fútbol o director técnico es la persona encargada de la dirección, instrucción y entrenamiento de jugadores de fútbol. Constituyen una pieza clave y fundamental en un equipo de fútbol, dirigiendo, organizando y motivando a los jugadores a lograr los objetivos propuestos en el campo de juego.

La proclamación de este día se hizo en honor a Alexander Chapman Ferguson, considerado el entrenador de fútbol más laureado del planeta. En tal sentido, se tomó como referencia su último partido como entrenador el día 13 de mayo de 2013.

A football coach or technical director is the person in charge of the direction, instruction, and training of football players. They are a key and fundamental part of a football team, directing, organizing, and motivating players to achieve the goals set on the field. The proclamation of this day was made in honor of Alexander Chapman Ferguson, considered the most successful football manager on the planet. His final match as manager on May 13, 2013, was taken as a reference.
