Martes 17 de marzo 2026 – Día Mundial del Trabajo Social.
El tercer martes de marzo se celebra el Día Mundial del Trabajo Social, una fecha impulsada desde 2008 por la Federación Internacional de Trabajadores/as Sociales.
El trabajador o trabajadora social realiza una labor que busca crear una realidad mucho más positiva en los diferentes grupos sociales que conforman un país. Es esa persona que detecta la realidad de las comunidades, busca soluciones a sus problemas, pero también aprovecha las oportunidades del entorno para hacer que las familias, vecinos o miembros de un conjunto social, vean una mejora positiva en su realidad.
Fue durante la Asamblea Mundial en Salvador de Bahía (Brasil) en el año 2008 cuando la Federación Internacional de Trabajadores/as Sociales, decidió crear esta efeméride. Y para ello escogieron el tercer martes del mes de marzo, un día que ha sido muy celebrado y respetado por todos los trabajadores sociales del mundo.
El trabajador social es un activista que busca mejorar las condiciones sociales de un grupo de personas, bien sea un núcleo familiar, una comunidad o incluso todo un país. Su trabajo es detectar las carencias o desafíos que enfrentan las personas miembros del colectivo de interés y ayudarles a conseguir soluciones a sus necesidades.
Durante este tercer mes 2026, crearé una minipoesía -relacionada con la celebración de cada día-.

Tuesday, March 17, 2026 – World Social Work Day

The third Tuesday of March is celebrated as World Social Work Day, a date established in 2008 by the International Federation of Social Workers.

Social workers carry out work that seeks to create a much more positive reality for the different social groups that make up a country. They are the ones who identify the realities of communities, seek solutions to their problems, and also take advantage of opportunities in their environment to help families, neighbors, or members of a social group experience a positive improvement in their lives.

It was during the World Assembly in Salvador de Bahia (Brazil) in 2008 that the International Federation of Social Workers decided to create this commemoration. They chose the third Tuesday of March, a day that has been widely celebrated and respected by social workers around the world.

A social worker is an activist who seeks to improve the social conditions of a group of people, whether it be a family, a community, or even an entire country. Their job is to identify the needs or challenges faced by the members of the group and help them find solutions.

During this third month of 2026, I will create a mini-poem—related to the celebration of each day.

It is easy to give and to love one’s neighbor, /
a life of light for those who know how to give. /
But there are those who prefer bitter evil, /
rather than the joy of their own peace. /
