Juan Antonio Albino Ortiz (nació en Yauco; 19 de diciembre de 1919; y, murió en Queens, el 7 de mayo de 2011). Conocido artísticamente como Johnny Albino, fue un cantante de boleros puertorriqueño-estadounidense.
En 1946, Albino formó su primer trío Trío San Juan con Jaime González, primera guitarra, y José Ramón Ortiz, segunda voz. El grupo debutó en la ciudad de Nueva York. El salto a la fama de Albino vino como vocalista con algunos de los tríos más famosos de esa época. Con el Trío San Juan, cantó canciones muy conocidas y ahora clásicas, tales como “Cosas como tú”,
La discografía de Albino incluye más de 300 álbumes en una carrera larga e ilustre. Él también realizó numerosas giras de conciertos por todo el mundo en lugares como Japón, Hong Kong, Singapur, Egipto, Israel, y por toda Europa y América Latina.
El 7 de mayo de 2011, a consecuencia de un infarto cardiaco masivo sorpresivo, fallece el cantante Johnny Albino en un hospital de Long Island: su cuerpo fue velado en Queens, Nueva York, y sus restos fueron cremados.
Murió Albino, pero nos dejó esta joya: COSAS COMO TÚ –“Cosas como tú, son para quererlas; / Cosas como tú, son para adorarlas. / Porque tú y las cosas / Que se te parecen, / Son para guardarlas en mitad del alma / Un rayo de luna, que nos acaricia; / El perfume de una rosa desmayada; / La fuente del patio / Que nos da frescura, / Son cosas que tienen / Tu gracia galana; / Por eso son cosas, de inmensa poesía; / Cosas que llevamos / En mitad del alma / Yo llevo tus ojos que son dos luceros, / La miel de tu boca linda sonrosada, / Tu boca, tu pelo, tus manos de gloria; / Cual calcomanía en mitad del alma…”,

Juan Antonio Albino Ortiz (born in Yauco, Puerto Rico, on December 19, 1919; died in Queens, Puerto Rico, on May 7, 2011), known artistically as Johnny Albino, was a Puerto Rican-American bolero singer.

In 1946, Albino formed his first trio, Trío San Juan, with Jaime González on lead guitar and José Ramón Ortiz on second vocals. The group debuted in New York City. Albino’s rise to fame came as a vocalist with some of the most famous trios of that era. With Trío San Juan, he sang well-known and now classic songs, such as «Cosas como tú.»

Albino’s discography includes more than 300 albums in a long and illustrious career. He also undertook numerous concert tours around the world, performing in places like Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, Egypt, Israel, and throughout Europe and Latin America.

On May 7, 2011, singer Johnny Albino died in a Long Island hospital from a sudden, massive heart attack. His body lay in state in Queens, New York, and his remains were cremated.
