April 25 is International Delegate’s Day, to pay tribute to the delegates who work for the United Nations in various tasks such as negotiating agreements, coordinating with their home countries, and forming alliances. Delegates represent their countries at UN meetings. If there is no higher-level political representative, they are the ones who speak and vote on behalf of their country before the United Nations General Assembly and in other forums such as the Security Council. Delegates are appointed by their countries and work for their country’s interests.
