Vaticano.- Este 8 de mayo de 2025, la Iglesia Católica recibió a su nuevo líder espiritual: Robert Francis Prevost Martínez, cardenal estadounidense de origen español y miembro de la Orden de San Agustín.

En una decisión que ha generado curiosidad y simbolismo, el nuevo pontífice eligió llamarse Papa León, un nombre con gran peso histórico en el Vaticano.

Prevost, nacido en Chicago el 14 de septiembre de 1955, cuenta con una destacada trayectoria dentro de la Iglesia como misionero, académico y administrador.
