El delantero Nelson Giraldo Mejía, portador del lema: “Se beneficia más quien mejor sirve”, logró un gol olímpico histórico en su extensa hoja de vida, mereciendo la presidencia de Rotary Club de Pereira Distrito 4281 para el período 2023-2024.

Al frente de este imbatible equipo, con uniforme roji-amarillo, el Padre Nelson Giraldo Mejía es distinguido como

“… un ser humano ejemplar, comprometido con la causa de los humildes, el compañerismo, la historia y el servicio de Dios…”, palabras propias de la bondadosa dama Juliana Montes, al entregarle la cinta de capitán al nuevo Presidente con el registro correspondiente de la eficiente secretaria Yadira Flórez Pérez.

El martes 4/julio 2023, en ceremonia nocturna, en el auditorio 201 -contiguo a la Rectoría UTP-  con asistencia de miembros activos y honorarios, tomó posesión la nueva Junta Directiva 2023-2024 del Club Rotario Pereira: Presidente Padre Nelson Giraldo Mejía. Luis Enrique Arango Jiménez –Vicepresidente. Secretaria Ejecutiva –Juliana Montes. Secretaria General –Yadira Flórez Pérez. Tesorera –Fanny Vallejo. Macero –doctor Oswaldo Castilla. El Botón Rotario fue impuesto a las nuevas socias: Paula Marcela Herrera y Laura María Vásquez.

El 27 de octubre de 1934, recibimos nuestra acta constitutiva ROTARIOS PEREIRA, expedida por la máxima directriz, en Chicago-Estados Unidos. Desde antes, con uno de nuestros fundadores, el inmortal doctor Jorge Roa Martínez, se registran los primeros pasos para seguir el ritmo de las palabras del promotor Número Uno de Rotary Internacional Paul Harris: “Jamás debemos ser indiferentes a los problemas de las comunidades en las que vivimos”.

Damas y caballeros: Jorge Roa Martínez, sigue vivo en nuestros corazones.

Para esta sencilla ceremonia, optamos por el mejor lugar: La Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira, fundada por él; y, que hoy es reconocida mundialmente por su excelencia.

Fue el doctor Roa Martínez, quien dedicó sus mejores años a innumerables obras realizadas por ROTARIOS PEREIRA; y, quien se proyectó entregando palabras sabias y precisas sobre la misión de nuestra organización. A él, le debemos el Himno Rotario Colombiano compuesto por el poeta pereirano Luis Carlos Gonzáles Mejía, musicalizado por el Maestro Manuel Grajales Reyes, que en su coro acopia nuestros esfuerzos:

Como el sol que la espiga madura / con sus rayos de eterna igualdad / nuestro Rotary es sol que procura / encender nuestro amor la amistad.

Dar de sí sin la espera egoísta/ del mundo favor personal / es el lema rotario el artista / que hace buena la arcilla del mal.

La historia está vigente y no miente.  La mayoría de personas, aquí presentes, conocen el recorrido del CLUB ROTARIO PEREIRA; donde es visible la acción humanitaria, desplegada con amor para contribuir en la superación de dificultades de los más necesitados; al progreso de la región, atendiendo la salud, educación, cultura, infraestructura, deporte, la sana recreación y concurriendo animosamente a las extensas jornadas de civismo en este pujante territorio colombiano. El Hospital San Jorge, es sin lugar a dudas, una de las obras más importantes gestionadas por el CLUB ROTARIO PEREIRA.

Me siento orgulloso de mi CLUB ROTARIO PEREIRA y me anima Dios para seguir sirviendo a mi ciudad, con acciones efectivas que iniciamos en esta nueva etapa período julio 2023 a julio 2024, con una directiva dispuesta a brindar lo mejor de sí: Luis Enrique Arango Jiménez –Vicepresidente. Señores Directivos del Club Rotary Internacional de Pereira,

Señoras y señores:

Cuan grato, a través de los Medios Sociales y desde este proscenio universitario, manifestar la gran satisfacción por la posesión hoy, de nuestro Capellán de Periodistas de Risaralda PRI Padre Nelson Giraldo Mejía.

Su cargo de Presidente, Director y Timonel del Club Rotario de Pereira, se une a la diversidad de funciones humanísticas y filantrópicas para guiar, espiritualmente, la grey de su rebaño risaraldense.

Bajo el lema: «Juntos para servir a la región y a la nación», el Club Rotario de la ciudad, queda muy bien direccionado por nuestro digno representante del Maestro Jesús.

Sea Él quien le dé luces para cumplir las tareas esenciales del Club, siendo las principales: el cuidado ambiental, la seguridad familiar, la comunicación cristiana de bienes, la igualdad social. Como se ve, no es fácil sacudir las conciencias en torno al desprendimiento material, pero, históricamente y moralmente hablando, ya Pereira es terreno abonado en el compartir, en el “alter ego», y en la doctrina de la solidaridad universal.

Por lo anterior, el Club Rotario Pereira se constituye en un segundo bautizo para cerrar la brecha entre ricos y pobres; para humanizar el capital en la Capital; para que el yugo de los necesitados sea más llevadero, y así, los habitantes sentirán más hijos de Dios; y, sabrán que nosotros no damos nada, que todo lo da El Todopoderoso.

Club Rotario de Pereira: de la mano con varias Instituciones, seguirá sirviendo a la comunidad en educación, salud, vías, calamidades, celebraciones familiares, acontecimientos; pues como dijo en 1.905, su fundador: Paul Harris y su esposa Jean: “Rotary Internacional es un conjunto de hombres y mujeres hermanizados, para fraternizar la realidad social de los pueblos».

El PRI le dice: ¡Bienvenido Padre Nelson Giraldo Mejía!  y, en nombre del periodismo cultural le deseamos «Buen viento y buena mar» en su loable misión y entrega a las clases más vulnerables. Que Dios, la academia, las empresas y las familias le sepamos decir GRACIAS por su asistencia social.

«…an exemplary human being, committed to the cause of the humble, fellowship, history and the service of God…», the words of the kind lady Juliana Montes, when she handed over the captain’s ribbon to the new President with the corresponding registration of the efficient secretary Yadira Flórez Pérez.

Emotional speech by Father Nelson Giraldo Mejía, in his possession as President (period July 2023-July 2024), nuanced with true anecdotes during 88 years of existence of the PEREIRA ROTARY CLUB:

AT ROTARIOS PEREIRA, WE ARE A LIVING EXPRESSION OF LOVE TO PEOPLE.

Allow me to thank the presence of: my colleagues, assets and fees. Civil, military and ecclesiastical authorities. Friends of the PRI -Journalists from Risaralda-

On October 27, 1934, we received our constitutive act ROTARIOS PEREIRA, issued by the highest directive, in Chicago-United States. Before, with one of our founders, the immortal doctor Jorge Roa Martínez, the first steps were taken to keep up with the words of the Number One promoter of Rotary International, Paul Harris: «We must never be indifferent to the problems of the communities in the ones we live”.

Ladies and gentlemen: Jorge Roa Martínez, lives on in our hearts.

For this simple ceremony, we opted for the best place: the Technological University of Pereira, founded by him; and, that today is recognized worldwide for its excellence.

It was Dr. Roa Martínez, who dedicated his best years to innumerable works carried out by ROTARIOS PEREIRA; and, who projected himself delivering wise and precise words about the mission of our organization. To him, we owe the Colombian Rotary Anthem composed by the Pereiran poet Luis Carlos Gonzáles Mejía, set to music by Maestro Manuel Grajales Reyes, who gathers our efforts in his choir:

Like the sun that ripens the spike / with its rays of eternal equality / our Rotary is the sun that seeks / to ignite our love and friendship.

Giving of oneself without the selfish expectation / of the world for personal favor / is the Rotary motto of the artist / who makes good the clay of evil.

History is current and does not lie. Most of the people present here know the path of the PEREIRA ROTARY CLUB; where humanitarian action is visible, deployed with love to contribute to overcoming the difficulties of those most in need; to the progress of the region, taking care of health, education, culture, infrastructure, sports, healthy recreation and enthusiastically attending the extensive days of civility in this thriving Colombian territory. The San Jorge Hospital is, without a doubt, one of the most important works managed by the PEREIRA ROTARY CLUB.

I feel proud of my PEREIRA ROTARY CLUB and God encourages me to continue serving my city, with effective actions that we began in this new phase from July 2023 to July 2024, with a board willing to provide the best of themselves: Luis Enrique Arango Jiménez -Vice president. Ladies and Gentlemen:

How gratifying, through the Social Media and from this university stage, to express the great satisfaction for the possession today of our Chaplain of Journalists of Risaralda PRI, Father Nelson Giraldo Mejía.

His position as President, Director and Helmsman of the Rotary Club of Pereira, joins the diversity of humanistic and philanthropic functions to spiritually guide the flock of his Risaraldense flock.

Under the motto: «Together to serve the region and the nation», the Rotary Club of the city, is very well directed by our worthy representative of Master Jesus.

May He be the one who gives you lights to fulfill the essential tasks of the Club, the main ones being: environmental care, family safety, Christian communication of goods, social equality. As can be seen, it is not easy to shake consciences around material detachment, but, historically and morally speaking, Pereira is already fertile ground in sharing, in the «alter ego», and in the doctrine of universal solidarity.

Due to the above, the Pereira Rotary Club is constituted in a second baptism to close the gap between rich and poor; to humanize capital in the Capital; so that the yoke of the needy is more bearable, and thus, the inhabitants will feel more children of God; and, they will know that we do not give anything, that everything is given by The Almighty.

Rotary Club of Pereira: hand in hand with various Institutions, it will continue to serve the community in education, health, roads, calamities, family celebrations, events; Well, as its founder: Paul Harris and his wife Jean said in 1905: «Rotary International is a group of men and women fraternized, to fraternize the social reality of the peoples».

The PRI tells him: Welcome Father Nelson Giraldo Mejía! and, in the name of cultural journalism, we wish you «Good wind and good sea» in your laudable mission and dedication to the most vulnerable classes.
