Desde hace una semana, fieles de todo el mundo se reúnen frente a la Basílica de San Pedro, junto a cardenales, obispos y miembros de la Curia para rezar por la salud del Papa, hospitalizado en el Hospital Gemelli desde el 14 de febrero. «Rezamos junto a toda la Iglesia por la salud del Santo Padre Francisco. Que la Virgen María, Madre de la Iglesia, le sostenga en este momento», fue la invitación que el cardenal limosnero, Konrad Krajewski, prefecto del Dicasterio para la Caridad, dirigió a todos los que acudieron a rezar el séptimo Rosario por el Pontífice.

La oración a una sola voz

En la noche del 2 de marzo, en la que se contemplan los Misterios Gloriosos, la multitud se congregó de nuevo en la Plaza de San Pedro, después de haber rezado ayer en el interior de la Basílica a causa de la lluvia, que hoy dio paso a un cielo despejado. Desde el escenario iluminado, el lector anunció los Misterios y luego leyó el Evangelio tomado de Lucas. El cardenal Krajewski dirigió la oración, recitando la primera parte del Padre Nuestro, que la asamblea completó a una sola voz, continuando con las decenas de Avemarías. Entre la multitud de fieles, que velada tras velada, con cualquier tiempo, acudían en gran número a la cita diaria, se podía ver a niños envueltos en gorros y bufandas, sacerdotes, monjas, voluntarios del Jubileo.
