El Ejército Nacional y la Policía capturaron a alias Cholo, cabecilla del grupo armado Cartel de Clan del Golfo en Risaralda.

Alias Cholo sería el hombre de confianza del cabecilla principal, alias Bigotes, y el encargado de transmitir sus órdenes criminales a los integrantes de este grupo armado organizado.

En cumplimiento del Plan de Campaña Ayacucho Plus, tropas del Batallón de Artillería de Campaña n.° 8 San Mateo, el Batallón de Inteligencia Militar n.° 5 y el grupo GOES de la Policía Nacional, lograron la captura de dos integrantes del grupo armado organizado Cartel del Clan del Golfo, entre ellos el cabecilla del componente criminal focalizado en el departamento de Risaralda.

Gracias a las labores de inteligencia militar adelantadas por el Batallón San Mateo y el Batallón de Inteligencia Militar, se logró establecer las rutas y horarios utilizados para la entrega de material logístico en el municipio de Mistrató. Con esta información, se coordinó una operación que permitió ubicar a alias Cholo.

Las tropas, junto con integrantes del grupo de operaciones especiales de la Policía de Risaralda, llegaron hasta la vereda Mampay, donde fue interceptado este cabecilla junto a otro individuo conocido como alias Marcos, quien presuntamente actuaba como su escolta desde que asumió el mando del componente criminal focalizado, tras el asesinato de alias Javier en el departamento de Antioquia, al parecer por integrantes de la misma organización.

Según la investigación, alias Cholo haría parte de esta estructura desde hace más de seis años y fue uno de los primeros integrantes enviados al departamento de Risaralda hace más de un año, con el objetivo de servir como enlace directo de alias Bigotes con los demás miembros del Cartel Clan del Golfo. Asimismo, se le vincula con los dos combates registrados en territorio risaraldense durante 2025.

Este individuo estaría encargado de coordinar la logística, el traslado de armamento y víveres, así como de verificar el reclutamiento de colaboradores en los municipios de Mistrató y Belén de Umbría, con especial injerencia en el cañón del río Chamí, zona donde mantenía su movilidad y desde donde, presuntamente, intimidaba a la población civil para evitar denuncias ante las autoridades.

Durante el procedimiento se incautó un arma de fuego tipo pistola calibre 7,65 mm, un cargador, cinco cartuchos del mismo calibre y 17 cartuchos calibre 7,62 mm. Por estos hechos, los capturados fueron puestos a disposición de la autoridad competente por el delito de fabricación, tráfico, porte o tenencia de armas de fuego, accesorios, partes o municiones.

Esta captura representa un fuerte golpe contra este GAO y afecta las intenciones de establecerse en Risaralda, siendo esta la tercera vez que la Fuerza Pública captura a un cabecilla principal del Clan del Golfo en el departamento.

El Ejército Nacional, a través del Batallón de Artillería de Campaña n.° 8 San Mateo, continuará trabajando de manera coordinada con las demás autoridades para garantizar la seguridad en cada rincón del departamento de Risaralda y del Eje Cafetero.

The National Army and the Police captured alias Cholo, a leader of the Clan del Golfo armed group in Risaralda.

Alias ​​Cholo is believed to be the right-hand man of the main leader, alias Bigotes, and responsible for relaying his criminal orders to the members of this organized armed group.

In compliance with the Ayacucho Plus Campaign Plan, troops from the 8th San Mateo Field Artillery Battalion, the 5th Military Intelligence Battalion, and the GOES group of the National Police captured two members of the Clan del Golfo organized armed group, including the leader of the criminal component focused on the department of Risaralda.

Thanks to military intelligence work carried out by the San Mateo Battalion and the Military Intelligence Battalion, the routes and times used for the delivery of logistical supplies in the municipality of Mistrató were established. With this information, an operation was coordinated that led to the location of alias Cholo.

The troops, along with members of the Risaralda Police Special Operations Group, reached the village of Mampay, where they intercepted this leader along with another individual known as alias Marcos, who allegedly acted as his bodyguard since he assumed command of the targeted criminal component, following the murder of alias Javier in the department of Antioquia, apparently by members of the same organization.

According to the investigation, alias Cholo has been part of this structure for more than six years and was one of the first members sent to the department of Risaralda more than a year ago, with the objective of serving as a direct link between alias Bigotes and the other members of the Clan del Golfo Cartel. He is also linked to the two armed clashes that occurred in Risaralda during 2025.

This individual was allegedly responsible for coordinating logistics, transporting weapons and supplies, and overseeing the recruitment of collaborators in the municipalities of Mistrató and Belén de Umbría, with particular involvement in the Chamí River canyon, an area where he maintained his movements and from where he allegedly intimidated the civilian population to prevent them from reporting the incidents to the authorities.

During the operation, a 7.65 mm caliber pistol, a magazine, five rounds of the same caliber, and 17 rounds of 7.62 mm caliber ammunition were seized. For these offenses, those arrested were turned over to the appropriate authorities on charges of manufacturing, trafficking, possessing, or carrying firearms, accessories, parts, or ammunition.

This capture represents a significant blow against this armed group and hinders its attempts to establish itself in Risaralda. This marks the third time that the Public Force has captured a top leader of the Clan del Golfo in the department.

The National Army, through the 8th Field Artillery Battalion «San Mateo,» will continue working in coordination with other authorities to guarantee security throughout the department of Risaralda and the Coffee Region.
