DESDE LA CASA DE NARIÑO SE SUGIEREN FRAUDES INEXISTENTES, SE DEBILIA SE DEBILITA EL SISTEMA ELECTORAL.

En un país con la historia lectoral de Colombia, donde los procesos democráticos han logrado sobrevivir a décadas de violencia, corrupción y desconfianza institucional, los señalamientos sin pruebas que ha hecho el presidente de la República sobre una supuesta manipulación anticipada de las elecciones de 2026, constituyen un acto grave y profundamente irresponsable.

El presidente Gustavo Francisco Paro Urrego, en vez de fortalecer la confianza ciudadana en el sistema electoral, ha optado por alimentar teorías infundadas que minan la legitimidad de las institucione democráticas. Todo por la adjudicación que la Registraduría Nacional acaba de hacer del contrato de manejo de las próximas elecciones la Unión Temporal, integración logística electoral 2026, de la que hace parte la empresa Thomas Greg & Son la misma que fabrica los pasaportes y que h sido lanco de los peores ataques por parte del Primer mandatario. Thomas Greg ha estado presente en anteriores jornadas electorales sin que hasta ahora se hallen presentando pruebas concretas que comprometan su labor. No obstante el presidente Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego, ha dicho que esa participación pone en riesgo la transparencia  de los comicios, insinuando que se fragua una alteración del resultado electoral.

Es preocupante que quien ostenta la máxima dignidad de Estado, desconozca las decisiones dopas por la Registraduría Nacional y Por el Consejo Nacional Electoral. Organismos autónomos con funciones claramente definidas por la Constitución. Lo hace además, sin entregar, como es su costumbre, evidencia alguna, sin someter su preocupación a los canales institucionales correspondientes y con un tono que aviva la polarización.

Lo más grave de todo esto es que sus observaciones no parecen ser el fruto del celo democrático que debe acompañar al presidente de la República, sino de una estrategia política que está más orientada a descalificar anticipadamente una posible derrota electoral.

Las palabras presidenciales tienen un peso que trasciende la coyuntura. Cuando en la casa de Nariño se  sugieren fraudes inexistentes, se debilita el sistema electoral y se fomenta el desconocimiento de los resultados, cualquiera que estos sean. Esto es lo que ha erosionado democracias en otras latitudes. No se puede aceptar que el garante del orden institucional actúe como el mayor detractor.

Es posible que la democracia colombiana requiera reformas, ajustes y vigilancia constante, pero también necesita respeto. Y ese respeto se demuestra cuando incluso los dueños del poder aceptan las reglas, no cuando las  deslegitiman anticipadamente. El país no necesita más combustible para la desconfianza, demanda responsabilidad, seriedad y respeto por las instituciones. Nada construye menos democracia que sembrar dudas sobre su legitimidad sin sustento alguno.

In a country with Colombia’s electoral history, where democratic processes have managed to survive decades of violence, corruption, and institutional mistrust, the President’s unsubstantiated allegations of alleged early manipulation of the 2026 elections constitute a serious and profoundly irresponsible act.

President Gustavo Francisco Paro Urrego, instead of strengthening citizen confidence in the electoral system, has chosen to fuel unfounded theories that undermine the legitimacy of democratic institutions. All because the National Registry has just awarded the contract to manage the upcoming elections to Unión Temporal, Electoral Logistics Integration 2026. This company, which manufactures passports and has been the target of the worst attacks by the President, is part of the contract. Thomas Greg & Son has been present at previous election days, but so far, no concrete evidence has been presented that compromises its work. However, President Gustavo Francisco Petro Urrego has stated that this participation jeopardizes the transparency of the elections, insinuating that an alteration of the election result is being plotted.

It is worrying that the person who holds the highest office of the State ignores the corrupt decisions of the National Registry and the National Electoral Council—autonomous bodies with functions clearly defined by the Constitution. Furthermore, it does so without, as is its custom, providing any evidence, without submitting its concerns to the appropriate institutional channels, and with a tone that fuels polarization. The most serious aspect of all this is that his remarks do not appear to be the fruit of the democratic zeal that should accompany the President of the Republic, but rather a political strategy more oriented toward preemptively dismissing a possible electoral defeat.

The president’s words carry a weight that transcends the current situation. When nonexistent fraud is suggested in the House of Nariño, the electoral system is weakened and ignorance of the results, whatever they may be, is encouraged. This is what has eroded democracies in other latitudes. It is unacceptable that the guarantor of institutional order acts as its greatest detractor.

Colombian democracy may require reforms, adjustments, and constant vigilance, but it also requires respect. And that respect is demonstrated when even those in power accept the rules, not when they prematurely delegitimize them. The country does not need more fuel for distrust; it demands responsibility, seriousness, and respect for institutions. Nothing builds democracy less than sowing doubts about its legitimacy without any basis.
