En un mensaje publicado este domingo en su cuenta de X, el presidente Gustavo Petro rechazó las acusaciones en su contra proferidas por el mandatario de Estados Unidos, Donald Trump, a quien le recordó su lucha contra el narcotráfico y por la paz de Colombia, de la región y el mundo.

“El poder judicial en Colombia no me pertenece, es independiente a mí y lo maneja en gran parte mi oposición. Si se quiere saber de la mafia y de las cosas de la mercantilización de la cocaína, solo hay que ver los archivos judiciales de Colombia”, escribió el jefe de Estado en referencia a su transparencia ante la justicia.

“Rechazo profundamente que Trump hable sin conocer; mi nombre en 50 años no aparece en los archivos judiciales sobre narcotráfico ni de antes ni del presente. Deje de calumniarme, señor Trump. Así no se amenaza a un presidente latinoamericano surgido de la lucha armada y después de la lucha por la paz del pueblo de Colombia”, subrayó el mandatario en X.

Además, le indicó a Trump que en su trayectoria política ha colaborado en la lucha contra las drogas: “Solo debe reunirse con sus oficiales expertos en investigación sobre drogas en Colombia, a los que he ayudado con mis propias investigaciones como senador de la República de la izquierda de Colombia y de su pueblo”.

Asimismo, se refirió a la situación de Nicolás Maduro y su esposa, Cilia Flores, capturados en Venezuela tras la agresión militar de Estados Unidos, bajo acusación de tener presuntos vínculos con el narcotráfico.

“No sé si Maduro es bueno o malo, ni siquiera si es narcotraficante. En los archivos de la justicia colombiana, después de medio siglo de lidiar con las mafias más grandes de la cocaína, no aparecen los nombres de Nicolás Maduro ni de Cilia Flores”, manifestó. 

En el mismo mensaje, el presidente Petro afirmó que las acusaciones de Trump en su contra tienen relación con su oposición al genocidio contra el pueblo palestino en la Franja de Gaza.

“Usted se tomó la soberbia de castigar mi opinión, mis palabras en contra del genocidio palestino. Su castigo es tratarme falsamente de narcotraficante y de tener fábricas de cocaína. Yo no tengo carro ni haciendas en el exterior; mi casa aún la pago al banco con mi salario. Es injusto y yo lucho contra las injusticias”, aseveró.

En ese contexto, el mandatario manifestó ser amigo del pueblo estadounidense y de su historia. De hecho, destacó que George Washington y Simón Bolívar se dieron regalos y agregó que “eran libertadores más que esclavistas”.

“Nunca he quemado una bandera de los EE.UU., porque he leído la historia de las luchas populares y obreras de los EE.UU. Por eso honro al pueblo norteamericano obrero, al pueblo negro e indígena”, sostuvo en X.

Finalmente, el presidente Petro le pidió a Trump respeto por el pueblo colombiano y latinoamericano: “No vea narcotraficantes donde solo hay genuinos guerreros por la democracia y la libertad”.

In a message posted this Sunday on his Twitter account, President Gustavo Petro rejected the accusations made against him by US President Donald Trump, reminding him of his fight against drug trafficking and for peace in Colombia, the region, and the world.

“The judicial power in Colombia does not belong to me; it is independent of me and is largely controlled by my opposition.” “If you want to know about the mafia and the cocaine trade, you only have to look at Colombia’s court records,” the president wrote, referring to his transparency with the justice system.

“I strongly reject Trump’s statements of ignorance; my name has not appeared in any drug trafficking court records, past or present, for 50 years. Stop slandering me, Mr. Trump.” “This is not how you threaten a Latin American president who emerged from armed struggle and later from the struggle for peace by the people of Colombia,” the president emphasized on X.

He also indicated to Trump that throughout his political career he has collaborated in the fight against drugs: “He only needs to meet with his expert drug investigation officers in Colombia, whom I have assisted with my own investigations as a senator of the Republic of Colombia, representing the left and its people.”

He also addressed the situation of Nicolás Maduro and his wife, Cilia Flores, captured in Venezuela following the US military intervention, accused of having alleged links to drug trafficking.

“I don’t know if Maduro is good or bad, or even if he’s a drug trafficker.” “In the Colombian justice system’s archives, after half a century of dealing with the largest cocaine cartels, the names of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores do not appear,” he stated.

In the same message, President Petro asserted that Trump’s accusations against him are related to his opposition to the genocide against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip.

“You had the audacity to punish my opinion, my words against the Palestinian genocide. Your punishment is to falsely accuse me of being a drug trafficker and owning cocaine factories. I don’t own a car or properties abroad; I still pay my mortgage with my salary.” “It’s unjust, and I fight against injustice,” he asserted.

In that context, the president declared himself a friend of the American people and their history. In fact, he emphasized that George Washington and Simón Bolívar exchanged gifts and added that “they were liberators more than slaveholders.”

“I have never burned a U.S. flag because I have read the history of the popular and workers’ struggles in the U.S. That is why I honor the American working class, the Black people, and the Indigenous people,” he stated on X.

Finally, President Petro asked Trump to respect the Colombian and Latin American people: “Don’t see drug traffickers where there are only genuine warriors for democracy and freedom.”
