El coronel Edward Vicente Martínez Anteliz, comandante de la Octava Brigada del Ejército Nacional, dirigió un emotivo mensaje de felicitación a los más de 4.000 hombres y mujeres desplegados en el Eje Cafetero durante estas festividades de fin de año. El oficial, quien asumió el mando de la unidad a finales de 2024, reconoció el sacrificio y dedicación de las tropas en garantizar la seguridad de la población civil en Caldas, Quindío y Risaralda. En su mensaje de motivación, el coronel Martínez Anteliz enfatizó que los soldados de la Octava Brigada hacen parte de las familias colombianas y que la gratitud recibida de la comunidad refleja el cumplimiento exitoso de su misión. «En esta época de Navidad y fin de año, hacemos parte de las familias colombianas, cuando recibimos la gratitud de la comunidad por la misión cumplida para que vivan estas fiestas de manera tranquila», expresó el comandante, subrayando la importancia de que la población disfrute de un ambiente seguro durante estas celebraciones familiares.
El Eje Cafetero, reconocido como uno de los destinos turísticos más atractivos de Colombia, recibe miles de visitantes durante la temporada navideña que desean vivir la magia de estas festividades y disfrutar de los paisajes y la cultura que caracterizan a la región. En este contexto, la presencia permanente de operaciones militares de la Octava Brigada resulta fundamental para proteger tanto a residentes como a turistas. El coronel Martínez Anteliz hizo un llamado especial a sus tropas para mantener la vigilancia constante: «Los soldados presentes en el Eje Cafetero son cazadores de la amenaza y no presa de esta», enfatizando la necesidad de actuar conforme al ambiente operacional actual sin bajar la guardia.
La labor de estos 4.000 hombres y mujeres de la Octava Brigada trasciende lo visible en los ejes viales de la región. Aunque muchas de las operaciones militares ocurren en espacios no perceptibles para el ciudadano común, la institución asegura que existe una cobertura permanente que garantiza la seguridad de estos prósperos territorios. Los soldados desplegados en Caldas, Quindío y Risaralda demuestran día a día su vocación de servir al pueblo colombiano, brindando confianza plena a la comunidad de que están presentes, vigilantes y comprometidos.
