The educational infrastructure in the department of Risaralda has a "low rating", the age of several educational centers mean that many schools have to be intervened or build new schools in the department.

Precisely this situation is recorded in different areas of the country, led to the fact that more than six years ago the National Government proposed the construction of more than 30,000 classrooms throughout the country.

What seemed like a dream for thousands of students in the national territory, quickly turned into a nightmare due to non-compliance by the selected contractor.

After overcoming this setback, the works of the mega-schools in Risaralda were reactivated with new contractors, it was one of the departments where the works were resumed.

Precisely in the territory of Risaraldense, 8 megacolgios have been delivered in the last three and a half years, 6 in non-certified municipalities and 2 in Pereira.
