Ascensos oficiales consolidan la renovación de la Cúpula Militar y de Policía.

En total 39 oficiales fueron ascendidos, reconociendo su trayectoria y aporte a la seguridad y Defensa del país.

En la Escuela Militar de Cadetes ‘General José María Córdova’ se llevó a cabo la ceremonia militar de ascensos de generales y oficiales de insignia, así como la presentación y reconocimiento de la nueva Cúpula Militar y Policial, en un acto que marcó los relevos estratégicos para enfrentar los desafíos de seguridad y defensa del país en 2026.

El ministro de Defensa, Pedro Sánchez Suarez manifestó que la nueva Cúpula Militar y Policial enfocara sus esfuerzos en tres líneas de acción garantías de seguridad para las elecciones 2026, afectación a economías ilegales de carteles narcotraficantes para consolidar el control territorial; y la reducción de delitos contra la vida y la convivencia.

“Con esta cúpula militar se dirigirá una de las fuerzas militares y policiales más profesionales del mundo y son las de Colombia y es para proteger a todos los colombianos” agregó el jefe de la Cartera de Defensa.

Durante la ceremonia se definieron las nuevas comandancias de la Fuerza Pública en el país.  El Comando General de las Fuerzas Militares quedó al mando del general Hugo Alejandro López Barreto como Comandante General, con el almirante Harry Ernesto Reyna Niño en la Jefatura de Estado Mayor Conjunto. En el Ejército Nacional, el general Royer Gómez Herrera fue presentado como Comandante y el general Jaime Alonso Galindo como Segundo Comandante.

En la Armada de Colombia, continúa el almirante Juan Ricardo Rozo Obregón al frente de la Institución, mientras que el almirante Orlando Grisales Franceschi fue designado como Segundo Comandante y Jefe de Estado Mayor Naval.

En la Fuerza Aeroespacial Colombiana, el general Carlos Fernando Silva Rueda quedó al frente del mando institucional y el general Alfonso Lozano Ariza fue presentado como Jefe de Estado Mayor.

En la Policía Nacional, se ratificó al general William Oswaldo Rincón Zambrano como Director General y al mayor general Rosemberg Novoa Piñeros como Subdirector.

En este mismo acto se formalizaron ascensos en la cúpula institucional. El vicealmirante Harry Ernesto Reyna Niño fue ascendido al grado de almirante, consolidando su designación como Jefe de Estado Mayor Conjunto de las Fuerzas Militares; el general Carlos Fernando Silva Rueda recibió el grado de general en su condición de Comandante de la Fuerza Aeroespacial Colombiana.

En la Policía Nacional, el brigadier general William Oswaldo Rincón Zambrano ascendió al grado de general de la República, y el brigadier general Rosemberg Novoa Piñeros al de mayor general.

Adicionalmente, 36 oficiales de las Fuerzas Militares y de la Policía Nacional alcanzaron los grados de Mayor General, Vicealmirante, Brigadier General y Contralmirante, como reconocimiento a una trayectoria marcada por la disciplina, la formación profesional y el compromiso permanente con el servicio a la Nación.

Los nuevos comandantes y altos oficiales del Ejército Nacional, la Armada de Colombia y la Fuerza Aeroespacial Colombiana quedaron investidos del liderazgo institucional, con la responsabilidad de orientar a sus hombres y mujeres, fortalecer la disciplina y garantizar el cumplimiento de la misión constitucional de cada Fuerza.

Durante la ceremonia también se otorgaron medallas por tiempo de servicio, con reconocimientos por 35 años a cinco oficiales y por 30 años a catorce oficiales de insignia del Ejército Nacional y de la Armada de Colombia.

Official promotions consolidate the renewal of the Military and Police High Command.

A total of 39 officers were promoted, recognizing their career achievements and contributions to the country’s security and defense.

The military ceremony for the promotion of generals and flag officers, as well as the presentation and recognition of the new Military and Police High Command, was held at the ‘General José María Córdova’ Military Cadet School. This event marked the strategic transitions to address the country’s security and defense challenges in 2026.

Defense Minister Pedro Sánchez Suarez stated that the new Military and Police High Command will focus its efforts on three lines of action: ensuring security for the 2026 elections; disrupting the illegal economies of drug cartels to consolidate territorial control; and reducing crimes against life and public order.

“With this military leadership, one of the most professional military and police forces in the world will be headed—those of Colombia—and it is to protect all Colombians,” added the Minister of Defense.

During the ceremony, the new commands of the Public Forces in the country were defined. The General Command of the Military Forces is now under the command of General Hugo Alejandro López Barreto as Commander General, with Admiral Harry Ernesto Reyna Niño as Chief of the Joint Staff. In the National Army, General Royer Gómez Herrera was presented as Commander and General Jaime Alonso Galindo as Deputy Commander.

In the National Police, Brigadier General William Oswaldo Rincón Zambrano was promoted to the rank of General of the Republic, and Brigadier General Rosemberg Novoa Piñeros to the rank of Major General.

Additionally, 36 officers from the Military Forces and the National Police were promoted to the ranks of Major General, Vice Admiral, Brigadier General, and Rear Admiral, in recognition of careers marked by discipline, professional training, and unwavering commitment to serving the nation.

The new commanders and high-ranking officers of the National Army, the Colombian Navy, and the Colombian Aerospace Force assumed institutional leadership, with the responsibility of guiding their men and women, strengthening discipline, and ensuring the fulfillment of each branch’s constitutional mission.

During the ceremony, medals for years of service were also awarded, recognizing five officers for 35 years and fourteen flag officers of the National Army and the Colombian Navy for 30 years.
