Alias Alonso, presunto cabecilla del GAO Clan del Golfo, fue capturado en Zaragoza, Antioquia, tras 15 años de actividad criminal

Troops from the 57th Jungle Battalion, attached to the Eleventh Brigade of the National Army, in coordination with the National Police, recently captured alias Alonso, alleged regional leader of the Uldar Cardona Rueda Substructure of the organized armed group (GAO) Clan del Golfo.

During the operation, which took place in the municipality of Zaragoza, Antioquia, troops seized a 38mm caliber revolver, 18 rounds of ammunition, two cell phones, and a motorcycle from the individual.

According to information provided by military intelligence, alias Alonso has a 15-year criminal history, playing various roles in this armed group. His criminal activity is believed to be in the municipalities of Zaragoza and El Bagre in Antioquia.

After the investigation, it was learned that this individual was allegedly involved in the murders committed on June 13 of this year in the rural area of El Bagre. Two bodies were found at the scene with signs of torture and bullet wounds. This incident was attributed to the Gulf Clan (GAO), a group of armed groups that allegedly responded to a «social cleansing» ordered by the individual in question as part of a strategy of territorial and criminal control.

Likewise, as the regional leader of the illegal substructure, he is alleged to be responsible for the kidnapping of a 24-year-old young man that same month. The victim was initially held in the urban area of the municipality of El Bagre and taken to the rural area of Zaragoza, where National Army troops managed to rescue him.

His criminal record also includes coordinating the collection of extortion fees from local businesses and merchants, as well as controlling the collection of illegal profits in the urban area and strategic rural areas within his area of influence, imposing payments under threats of aggression, forced closure, and attacks, with the aim of consolidating criminal dominance and strengthening the illicit financing of the Uldar Cardona Rueda Substructure.

The captured man was placed, along with the seized material, at the disposal of the Attorney General’s Office for the completion of the proceedings that will determine his legal situation.

The capture of alias Alonso weakens the GAO Clan del Golfo, considering that it disrupts its control of illicit economies such as drug trafficking and extortion. His absence generates disorder, losses, and internal disputes, which affect the financing and sustainability of the armed group.

Additionally, it neutralizes this illegal organization’s ability to carry out terrorist and intimidation actions, achieving a favorable impact and generating an environment of security and trust among the civilian population in these sectors.

The National Army reaffirms its commitment to the consolidation and stabilization of the Bajo Cauca subregion of Antioquia, deploying decisive operations aimed at protecting and defending the communities in this area of the country.

Tropas del Batallón de Selva N.° 57, adscritas a la Décima Primera Brigada del Ejército Nacional, en coordinación con la Policía Nacional, lograron recientemente la captura de alias Alonso, presunto cabecilla de zona de la Subestructura Uldar Cardona Rueda del grupo armado organizado (GAO) Clan del Golfo. 

Durante la operación, que se registró en el municipio de Zaragoza, Antioquia, las tropas incautaron un revólver calibre 38 mm, 18 cartuchos, dos celulares y una motocicleta que se encontraban en poder de este sujeto.

Según la información aportada por inteligencia militar, alias Alonso tendría una trayectoria delictiva de 15 años, desempeñando diversos roles en este grupo armado, y tendría como área de injerencia criminal los municipios de Zaragoza y El Bagre en Antioquia.

Tras las investigaciones, se conoció que este sujeto habría participado en los homicidios perpetrados el 13 de junio del presente año, en zona rural de El Bagre. En el sitio fueron hallados dos cuerpos con signos de tortura e impactos de bala, hecho que fue atribuido al GAO Clan del Golfo y respondería a una «limpieza social» ordenada por el sujeto en mención como parte de una estrategia de control territorial y criminal.

Asimismo, en su calidad de cabecilla de zona de la subestructura ilegal, se le atribuye presunta responsabilidad en el secuestro de un joven de 24 años ocurrido en ese mismo mes. Inicialmente la víctima fue retenida en el casco urbano del municipio de El Bagre y trasladada al área rural de Zaragoza, donde tropas del Ejército Nacional lograron rescatarla.

Dentro de su prontuario delictivo también sería el encargado de coordinar el cobro de cuotas extorsivas a empresas y comerciantes locales, así como de controlar el recaudo de rentas ilegales en el casco urbano y zonas rurales estratégicas de su área de injerencia, imponiendo pagos bajo amenazas de agresión, cierre forzado y atentados, con el fin de consolidar el dominio criminal y fortalecer la financiación ilícita de la Subestructura Uldar Cardona Rueda.

El capturado fue dejado junto al material incautado a disposición de la Fiscalía General de la Nación para el cumplimiento de los procesos que determinarán su situación judicial.

La captura de alias Alonso debilita al GAO Clan del Golfo, teniendo en cuenta que se interrumpe el control de economías ilícitas como el narcotráfico y la extorsión. Su ausencia genera desorden, pérdidas y disputas internas, lo que afecta el financiamiento y sostenimiento del grupo armado.

Adicionalmente, se neutraliza la capacidad de ejecutar acciones terroristas y de intimidación por parte de esta organización ilegal, logrando impactar favorablemente y generar un ambiente de seguridad y confianza en la población civil de estos sectores.

El Ejército Nacional reafirma su compromiso en la consolidación y estabilización de la subregión del Bajo Cauca antioqueño, desplegando operaciones contundentes orientadas a proteger y defender a las comunidades de esta zona del país.
